A series of encounters erupted between the troops from the 11th Infantry Battalion, under the 302nd Infantry Brigade, against the remnants of the Southeast Front- Dismantled (SEF-D), Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros (KR-N), earlier this morning, 15 February 2026, in Barangay Sto. NiΓ±o, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
Following the firefight, troops recovered hand grenades, long and short magazines for M16, a magazine for Cal. 45, assorted ammunition, personal belongings, and other subversive documents left behind by the fleeing terrorists.
In the aftermath of the engagement, one brave soldier paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, while another sustained wounds while steadfastly defending the community. Their courage under fire reflects the unwavering commitment of government forces to protect the people of Negros Oriental. Assessment of enemy casualties remains ongoing.
βEven fragmented armed groups remain capable of violence. That is precisely why we do not allow them space to regroup. Zero threat is not achieved by waitingβit is achieved through sustained pressure. Our continued security patrols deny them mobility and mass forces, deny them influence, and deny them the ability to intimidate communities and affect them as they once claimed. They are reacting to sustained pressure.β Brigadier General Jason V. Jumawan, PA, Commander, 302IBde underscored.
BGen Jumawan further reassured the public that heightened security operations continue in the area to safeguard civilians and prevent the resurgence of hostile elements. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
