Yesterday, June 11, 2025, Indigenous People's Day was a resounding success, centered around the theme "Empowering IP Youth Through Literacy and Legal Awareness!" It was a powerful day of learning, connection, and cultural celebration, made possible through exceptional partnerships.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Champion Mayor of Bagumbayan, an elected board member of the Province of Sultan Kudarat, Jonallete De Pedro for her steadfast support. We also thank the Local Youth Development Council, led by Ma'am Mylene M. Gambet, RSW, and SKMF Kathleen Kate Aug, for their tireless efforts.
Special thanks to NCIP Representative Sir Harrez Silongan, LPT, MPA, for generously sharing his expertise on the IPRA Law. His input provided our IP youth with essential knowledge crucial for their empowerment and future.
We would like to particularly highlight our dedicated IP Volunteer Teachers, Ma'am Yuna Mae Soliman and Cherresa O. Imperio. Their commitment to teaching the basic T'boli language is a monumental step in cultural preservation. Teaching the T'boli language to the youth goes beyond just words; it safeguards our heritage, ensuring that ancient wisdom, intricate traditions, and unique narratives continue to thrive. This effort reinforces our identity and strengthens the very fabric of the T'boli community for generations to come.
A huge thank you to the Barangay Officials for their invaluable time and strength in making this event happen. To the young and dynamic SK Chairman Jever S. Francisco, along with Kagawads Dina Flor Kala and Diana Akoy, your continuous dedication to our Ka Lumads is truly commendable and sets a remarkable example.
Lastly, we would like to recognize the amazing PYAP organization, headed by Sarah Jane Sabal, and the IPS organization led by Jayvee Jalanie S. Pagalala, along with officers Florence Kate Kala and Charlenmae Aguilar. Your energy, time, and effort were exceptional!
Thank you for being so committed to our Ka Lumads!
