July 2025: SG Sustainable Beautification Project by SGBAI
(by Lilia B LaMadrid)
Hello fellow environmental advocates ! We’re getting very close to launching our R B Mata St Sustainable Beautification Project through Native Ornamental Tree Planting . The planting Committee had been busy planning this project with our newly sworn in Kapitan Don Francisco and Kag Sydney Millare . We will be planting Salinggogon , a Philippine native tree with pinkish white flowers that usually bloom during the month of March / April . Our Phil Native Tree Enthusiasts member and our SGBAI consultant , Engr Jun San Miquel compares its blooms to the cherry blossoms in Japan and Korea .
So far we got an overwhelming positive response from residents fr from Sitio Estacion to beginning of Sitio Gitna with space in their front yard to participate in this project . Let’s see how the residents from the rest of Sitio Gitna , Pantok/ Labak, Agasas / Highway when we continue on with house to house assessment this coming Thursday ( July 3) .
Jessie and Rully Delos Poyos have been canvassing nurseries in Calabarzon areas for the availabilities of Salinggogon . Planting is scheduled for July 5 by our SGBAI tech Carlo Cuate .
Our meeting with the Barangay team is set for tomorrow July 2 , to discuss logistics to ensure these trees thrive to beautify as well as clean the air we breathe in our SanGuilmo year after year .
Because of the overwhelming response from our initial assessment we had surpassed the budget we set for the cost of the trees , so we would like to ask for your assistance . You may send any amount you can to our treasurer Azon Raymundo .
Please feel free to contact me on how you may send your donation to Azon .
We welcome any query , interest or participation on our existing and future projects .
UPDATE:
88 additional Salinggogon trees were warmly welcomed by residents with available front yard space on the second day of assessment. Our goal is to plant a total of 193 ornamental trees along R B Mata St. between July 5 and July 15. Thank you, Sanguilmo, for your enthusiasm in participating in our R B Mata St Sustainable Beautification Project, and thank you SGSB for your collaborative partnership.
