Reading opens doors to imagination and confidence. ๐Ÿ“š

The Basa Bihasa Program was created to inspire young learners to discover the joy of reading and to build the skills they need for a brighter future.

Through stories, activities, and meaningful connections, this program empowers children to grow not only as readers, but also as dreamers and leaders in their own communities.

Join us in celebrating learning, curiosity, and the power of literacy through the Basa Bihasa Program.

As we conclude our final community engagement, we celebrate the smiles, the stories shared, and the young minds inspired along the way. ๐Ÿ“š Through the Basa Bihasa Program, children were given not just books to read, but also the confidence to speak, learn, and dream bigger.

What started as a simple initiative became a meaningful journey of learning, patience, and connection. Every story read together and every moment spent guiding these young learners reminded us that literacy can open doors to brighter opportunities.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous sponsors and donors whose support made this program possible. Your kindness helped create opportunities for these children to grow, learn, and discover the joy of reading.

Though this may mark the end of our sessions, the impact of Basa Bihasa continues beyond the pages, living in every child who discovered the love for reading. ๐Ÿ“–โœจ

Our second Basa Bihasa session started at 8:00 AM and ended at 10:00 AM. During the two-hour session, the kids had two lessons: one on the family of words (rhyming words) and another on the use of simple punctuation marks such as the period, comma, question mark, and exclamation point.

It was great seeing the children actively participating and engaging in the activities throughout the session. As we near the conclusion of the Basa Bihasa advocacy program, we remain grateful for the opportunity to share meaningful learning moments with the kids and help strengthen their reading skills.

Basa Bihasa successfully held its first community engagement session at the Barangay Library of City Camp Central, marking the beginning of its mission to strengthen the reading skills of young learners in the community.

Before the session began, the advocates cleaned and prepared the library to create a comfortable and welcoming learning space. The children arrived earlier than the call time, filled with excitement. One learner shared, โ€œSa sobrang excited po ako ate, hindi na po ako nag-umagahan para maaga ako makapunta,โ€ reflecting their eagerness to participate.

The program formally started at 10:00 AM with an opening prayer led by Ate Gwai, followed by opening remarks from lead advocate Ate Jade. The session included an ice breaker facilitated by Kuya Glynson, a reading assessment led by Kuya Arcee with one-on-one assistance from the advocates, and a short spelling bee activity.

After a wellness break, the children joined individual reading sessions and shared their insights about the stories they read. The program concluded with a simple awarding ceremony and a message from Hon. Gerald S. Alangui, Committee Chair on Social Services and Education of City Camp Central, followed by a closing prayer.

This first session marks the beginning of a shared journey toward building confidence, competence, and a stronger reading culture within the community.
