The Baguio PCC-SOM Campus Lions Club successfully conducted its General Orientation and ROAR-1: Readiness, Observation, Application, and Refinement, bringing together senior, first-year, and second-year Lions for a day of learning, training, and fellowship.

The program covered essential topics for future medical missions, including history taking, vital signs, and physical examination, with focused discussions on ENT and ophthalmology. Senior Lions and officers led the lectures and guided the junior members through breakout sessions, allowing them to apply what they had learned and build confidence in serving patients during future medical missions.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our mother club, the Baguio City Everlasting Lions Club, for sponsoring the raffle prizes and tokens. We also sincerely thank Dr. Joanne Balderas, our adviser and Dr. Vian Opena, for their generous support and guidance. Special thanks to Sir Vic Victoria, the President of Baguio City Pines Lions Club, for graciously allowing us to use their Lions Clubhouse for this activity.

Through Readiness, Observation, Application, and Refinement, we continue to prepare our Lions to serve with competence, compassion, and confidence. 💙💛🦁

PCC-SOM Campus Lions Club medical student volunteers proudly participated in the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club PMJF 2nd Kick-Off Activity, joining fellow Lions in bringing accessible healthcare services closer to the community. The outreach offered free random blood sugar testing, blood pressure monitoring, health habits lectures, mental health consultations, comprehensive vision screening, and free eyeglasses for qualified beneficiaries, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting healthier communities through service.

Beyond providing healthcare services, the activity gave our volunteers valuable hands-on clinical experience as they assisted in visual acuity testing, spot vision screening, and eyeglass prescription assessments under the guidance of Dr. Joanne Balderas. Through this meaningful outreach, the students strengthened their clinical competence while embracing the values of compassion, volunteerism, and patient-centered care.

We extend our sincere appreciation to ZC Emma Dela Cruz and Lion Beatriz Soriano for generously sponsoring our volunteers’ meals through their ₱1,000 donations each, and to our Mother Club, Baguio Everlasting Lions Club (BELC), for the opportunity to serve alongside dedicated Lions in making a positive impact on the community.

In celebration of the 48th National Disability Rights Week and 52nd Nutrition Month, PCC School of Medicine student volunteers proudly took part in the Y.O.U.T.H. Outreach Project, organized in partnership with the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club PMJF, JPCOM Cares, and STAC 5 Baguio.

As part of the outreach, the medical students conducted interactive health education sessions focusing on the Importance of Good Nutrition for Adolescents. Topics included healthy eating habits, the risks of junk food and sugary drinks, essential nutrients for the youth, food safety and hygiene, common nutrition problems and myths, and the importance of developing lifelong healthy habits. To reinforce these lessons, the students also prepared and distributed informative nutrition pamphlets to the participants.

Beyond health education, the volunteers assisted in vision assessment services, including Visual Acuity (VA) testing, Spot Vision Screening, and eyeglasses prescription assessment, under the guidance and supervision of their adviser, Dra. Joanne Balderas. Through these activities, the students enhanced their clinical skills while providing meaningful support to the community and promoting preventive healthcare among the youth.

This outreach reflects the commitment of future physicians and community partners to empowering young individuals through health education, early screening, and compassionate service. Together, we continue to build healthier communities, one outreach at a time. 💙🦁

📍 Mapandan Central School, Mapandan, Pangasinan

The PCC School of Medicine Lions Club was honored to take part in a Medical Mission dedicated to bringing accessible healthcare services to the people of Mapandan, Pangasinan.

In collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Coral, Pias, and Sta. Maria, Mapandan, Pangasinan and the Philippine Red Cross Pangasinan Chapter – San Carlos City Branch, the outreach successfully provided medical consultations, pharmacy dispensing, and a mobile blood donation drive to community members.

Our student volunteers also had the opportunity to assist healthcare professionals throughout the mission, strengthening their clinical skills while embracing the true spirit of compassionate service. Every patient served and every helping hand extended reflects our shared commitment to improving lives through collaboration, volunteerism, and community engagement.

The PCC School of Medicine Campus Lions Club proudly participated in a Health Caravan held at Brgy. Manggan-Dampay, Malasiqui, Pangasinan, reaffirming its commitment to bringing quality healthcare services closer to underserved communities.

In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Pangasinan Chapter – San Carlos City Branch and the 105th Regional Mobile Force Battalion, the outreach provided medical consultations, pharmacy dispensing, and a mobile blood donation drive, ensuring that essential healthcare services were accessible to community members.

The Health Caravan successfully served approximately 168 beneficiaries, reflecting the impact of collaboration among healthcare professionals, volunteers, and partner organizations. Through this meaningful initiative, our student volunteers also gained valuable experience in community-based healthcare while embracing the Lions’ mission of selfless service and compassion.

PCC-SOM medical student volunteers actively participated in the 2-Day Integrated Health Care National Outreach Program held in Narvacan and Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur. Working alongside dedicated healthcare professionals, civic organizations, and community partners, the team helped deliver essential health and social services to hundreds of beneficiaries across the province.

The outreach provided a wide range of free services, including eye examinations and distribution of more than 700 pairs of reading glasses, blood donation activities, health consultations, blood pressure screening, medicines, legal consultations, haircuts, and the distribution of over 400 pairs of children’s slippers. Through these activities, students strengthened their clinical and community engagement skills while gaining firsthand experience in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

This meaningful initiative was made possible through the collective efforts of the Baguio Bulacan Noble Eagles Sodality, Baguio Bulacan Lady Noble Eagles Sodality and Baguio Everlasting Lion’s Club, whose commitment to public service helped bring accessible healthcare and support to underserved communities. Together, the mission reflects a shared dedication to improving lives and fostering healthier communities through service and collaboration. 💙🦁

For the second time, members of the PCC-SOM Lions Club took part in a Free Circumcision Mission held at the Health Services Office, continuing their dedication to serving the community through meaningful healthcare outreach. The activity was spearheaded by Dr. Celia Brillantes and supervised by Dr. Maria Lourdes Pakoy.

The mission brought together medical students, clerks, interns and nursing student. The activity was also made possible through the support of the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club and the guidance of our adviser, Dr. Joanne Balderas.

Throughout the mission, student volunteers actively assisted healthcare professionals in providing safe, efficient, and quality care while gaining valuable hands on experience in community service and minor surgical procedures. The activity served as an avenue for learning, service, and collaboration among future healthcare professionals and community partners.

More than a medical outreach program, the mission highlighted the impact of teamwork, compassion, and volunteerism. Through every patient served, the activity strengthened the commitment of future physicians and healthcare workers to promote accessible, community centered healthcare and to uphold the spirit of service beyond the walls of the classroom and hospital. 💛💚🦁

Members of the PCC-SOM Lions Club participated in a Free Circumcision Mission open to Baguio residents aged 10 years old and above. The activity was led by Dr. Celia Brillantes and supervised by Dr. Maria Lourdes Pakoy, in partnership with the BGHMC Surgery Department and Family and Community Medicine Department.

The mission brought together Medical students, clerks and interns from Pines City Colleges School of Medicine and Saint Louis University School of Medicine, with valuable assistance from the Third Year Nursing students of Pines City Colleges. The activity was further supported by the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club and guided by our adviser, Dr. Joanne Balderas.

Throughout the mission, student volunteers actively assisted healthcare professionals in delivering safe and quality care while gaining meaningful hands-on experience in community service and minor surgical procedures. The event successfully catered to 196 patients, making a significant impact on the lives of many families in the community.

More than just a medical outreach, the activity served as a testament to the power of collaboration, compassion, and service. Through every patient served, the mission strengthened the commitment of future healthcare professionals to provide accessible and community-centered healthcare for all. 💙🦁
