PCC-SOM medical students, participated in the โ€œCompassion in Action 2026 Medical, Dental, Optical, and Evangelistic Missionโ€ in collaboration with the Covenant Grace Community of Gapan, Nueva Ecija, the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club, the Baguio SLU-SOM Lions Club, and the Door of Faith Choice of Gapan CP.

As one of the first major outreach missions of the PCC-SOM Lions Club outside Baguio City, the event became a meaningful milestone for the organization and its members. During the medical mission proper, students rotated across different service areas, actively assisting and providing care to patients under proper guidance and supervision. The circumcision drive, together with the surgical and medical services, was guided by Dr. DJ Diaz, while the Ophthalmology services were guided by Dr. Joanne Balderas.

The mission successfully catered to more than 500 patients, including approximately 50 patients served during the circumcision drive. More than just a clinical experience, the mission became a powerful opportunity for students to apply the skills and training they had prepared for over the past weeks. It strengthened their confidence, teamwork, and commitment to compassionate service while igniting a deeper passion for community-centered healthcare.

Through every consultation, procedure, and interaction, the mission embodied what it truly means to serve with compassion in action. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฆ

The second batch of Baguio PCC-SOM Lions Club medical student volunteers took part in another successful tuli medical mission held at the New Lucban Health Center in partnership with local healthcare workers and community partners. Through the activity, students were given the opportunity to further develop their clinical skills by assisting during procedures and actively participating in patient care throughout the mission.

Under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Paolo Chavez, the students achieved an important milestone as they performed their own first cuts during the activity. Beyond strengthening their surgical confidence and practical experience, the mission reflected the commitment of future physicians to compassionate, community-centered service and hands-on learning outside the classroom. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฆ

Second-year students of the PCC-SOM Lions Club participated in a circumcision workshop. The training focused on simulation-based training, where students practiced proper techniques using appropriate materials on improvised models, allowing them to safely apply and refine their clinical skills.

The participants, the second-year members of the PCC-SOM Lions Club, would like to sincerely express their deepest gratitude to their Club President, Samuel Bacagan, together with Senior Lion Judah Mickaella Ferrer, for their invaluable guidance and support throughout the training. PCC-SOM medical student volunteers carried out an ophthalmology outreach mission in Alaminos, Pangasinan, in collaboration with the Philippine Eagle International Club and the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club. Stationed once again at the Emergency Field Hospital along Harrison Road, the volunteers remained ready to attend to individuals who required medical care, including performers who returned to the festivities for the Grand Float Parade following their participation in the previous dayโ€™s events.

PCC-SOM Lion medical student volunteers proudly took the lead in supporting the Philippine Red Cross Baguio Chapter during Day 1 of the Panagbenga Festival Parade on February 28, 2026.

Stationed at the Emergency Field Hospital along Harrison Road, the volunteers played a vital role in providing immediate medical care to street dancers, performers, and festival-goers who required medical attention during the celebration. From first aid response to patient monitoring and coordination with Red Cross teams, the medical students helped ensure that timely care was readily available throughout the event.
