In Kayan East, Tadian, community members, together with students and CorDisRDS staff, came together to relearn the traditional art of basket weaving. Using locally available bamboo, participants crafted indigenous tools such as akiyak and balinag, helping revive skills that support both daily living and local livelihood.

This activity highlights the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge while empowering communities to maximize their own resources.

CorDisRDS, in partnership with the Center for Development Programs in the Cordillera - CDPC and the Magsasaka at Siyentipiko para sa Pag-unlad ng Agrikultura Masipag, successfully conducted a Food and Feed Processing Training on April 7–9, 2026, at the Lacnog Organic Demonstration Farm in Tabuk City, Kalinga. The activity gathered staff, partners, and farmer-leaders to strengthen skills in food processing and organic feed preparation using locally available resources, while promoting sustainable and cost-effective practices.

Designed as a Training of Trainers (ToT), the activity aimed to prepare participants to become future resource persons who can replicate the training in their respective communities. Through hands-on practicum and shared learning, participants gained practical knowledge and confidence to apply and pass on these skills, contributing to more resilient, self-reliant, and empowered farming communities.

Third Quarter Parent–Teacher Conference and Mental Health Program

As part of the Tabuk Institute Mental Health Plan supported by Project Mindwell, this activity brought together parents, teachers, and partners to strengthen awareness on children’s mental health and positive parenting.

Through the collaboration of CorDisRDS, mental health advocate Ms. July Rain, and Ma'am Gemma of Kalinga State University, parents were equipped with knowledge on mental health, communication, and creating safe, supportive homes for our children.

Learning together because mental health mattersβ€”at home, in school, and in the community.

In Tulgao West, Tinglayan, Kalinga, community members requested a training on Human Rights, FPIC, and Indigenous Peoples’ rightsβ€”and it was fitting that it was held on December 13–14, just after International Human Rights Day (December 10). The training, led by CorDisRDS with Dr. Raymond Mamma, PhD, from Kalinga State University (KSU) as resource person, created a safe space for sharing experiences and understanding issues affecting their land, culture, and daily lives.

Participants explored the connection between human rights and climate justice, learned how to document rights violations, and understood their protections under UNDRIP. They also discussed the importance of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and how communities can actively protect their ancestral land.

By the end of the training, participants challenged themselves to share what they learned with families and neighbors, empowering everyone to safeguard their land, culture, and future.
