The Power of X in Bloom 🌻

The Power of X in Bloom powered by the Converge FiberX brought Malcolm Square, Baguio City to life on February 21, filling the Panagbenga celebration with music, fashion, and nonstop performances. Dancers, singers, and local models energized the crowd in a full-day showcase that celebrated creativity and the vibrant spirit of Baguio in bloom.

Beyond entertainment, the event also created space for meaningful community engagement. As a partner, the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) Baguio-Benguet Chapter provided free and confidential HIV screening, promoted Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and distributed free condoms to encourage informed and responsible choices.

By combining celebration with advocacy, Converge demonstrated how large-scale events can also serve as platforms for awareness and impact. Together with FPOP, the initiative highlighted the power of partnership in connecting communities not only through technology and entertainment, but also through accessible health services and education.

Warm greetings on the 17th Ibaloy Day! 🎉

Today, we celebrate the living legacy of the Ibaloi people—whose history, traditions, and leadership continue to shape the heart and soul of Baguio and the Cordilleras. Their deep connection to the land and strong sense of community remain a guiding force for generations.

With this year’s theme, “Buday chiya Bagiw, makajowanan say wara e pan-aadivayan,” we are reminded of the beauty of shared identity, cultural pride, and collective strength. The richness of Ibaloi heritage is not only remembered—it is actively lived, honored, and passed on.

FPOP Baguio-Benguet proudly stands with the Ibaloi community in this celebration, reaffirming our commitment to inclusive programs that respect culture, promote dignity, and empower communities.
May we continue to uplift and preserve the traditions that make our city’s story vibrant and meaningful.

The Family Planning Organization of the Philippines FPOP Baguio-Benguet through its youth arm, Kabataang FPOP Montañosa, successfully held a crucial educational and outreach event on October 18, 2025, at the Data Center College of the Philippines (DCCP). The seminar centered on two major pillars of youth health: Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) and HIV Awareness.

The morning was packed with in-depth discussions and essential screening services, led by FPOP in partnership with the Data Center College of the Philippines.

The seminar began with a session led by Communications Chairperson Joshua Catiyan, who served as the resource speaker for the Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) module. Catiyan’s powerful discussion focused on empowering students to take ownership of their health and well-being, highlighting the core question: “𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘬𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘢?”(Are you ready?).

“𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯; 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦,” Catiyan stated, urging the DCCP community to actively engage with the realities of sexual and reproductive health.

Following the ASRH talk, Chairperson on Mobilization Junel L. Wacnisen took the floor as the guest speaker for HIV 101. Wacnisen’s discussion provided foundational knowledge on HIV transmission, prevention, and treatment, with a strong emphasis on the critical need to fight the stigma associated with the virus.

Wacnisen stressed that fear and discrimination remain the biggest barriers to HIV testing and management. “𝘉𝘺 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵,” he explained.

To provide immediate and accessible services alongside the lectures, the Kabataang FPOP Montañosa team also conducted a simultaneous outreach program. Throughout the event, attendees were offered free and confidential HIV screening, along with condom distribution to promote safer practices.

The successful event is part of Kabataang FPOP Montañosa’s ongoing commitment to building health literacy, reducing high-risk behaviors, and advocating for a stigma-free environment among the youth in the region.

Empowering Young Voices: Midas Elementary School Celebrates International Day of the Girl Child

Ucab, Itogon, Benguet — October 14, 2025
The young girls of Midas Elementary School shone with confidence and joy as they celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child — a day dedicated to recognizing their strength, dreams, and potential to lead change.

With the support of partners including the Ucab Barangay Health Workers, Ucab Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Itogon Municipal Health Office, and the AIDS Health Foundation (AHF), the event became a celebration of empowerment. The students received hygiene kits, shirts, and health services, all aimed at promoting self-care and dignity among young girls.

The day was filled with stories, discussions, and inspiring activities that reminded the girls of their worth and capabilities. They were encouraged to dream boldly, believe in themselves, and stand proud of who they are. As shared during the program:

“Keep on dreaming, keep on believing, and keep on achieving. Don’t let others look down on you just because you’re a girl or because you’re young.” — Krisha Mae Bugaling, Miss Homeland Philippines 2025.

Every October, the International Day of the Girl Child amplifies girls’ voices and rights. This year’s theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead,” perfectly reflected the spirit of the event — that every girl has the power to create change, starting with herself.

At Midas Elementary School, the celebration became more than just an outreach; it was a reminder that every girl has a story worth telling and a future worth fighting for.
