The Cadet Officer Candidate Course (COCC) is a rigorous training course designed to transform aspiring Grade 9 louisian students into responsible and community-oriented leaders.

Through structured military training and discipline, the program instills the values of professionalism and initiative, shaping role models in the society.

This is how we develop the next generation of competent leaders in the Citizenship Training Program.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒔?

The CTP Officers, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts recently completed the Basic Leadership and Discipline Program, where leadership skills were honed and camaraderie was strengthened. Held last August 30 and September 6, the training session at the SLU JHS Covered Court was led by the esteemed 122𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐲.

They imparted crucial knowledge and shared their expertise, helping the young leaders develop their skills and sharpen their minds. This collaboration is a testament to the dedication of our community to raising a new generation of disciplined, skilled, and well-rounded individuals.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈

Today, May 5, 2025 marks a special day for both the CTP Cadets and Officers as they celebrate three momentous occasions. The Officers who are now alumni of the SLU BEDS JHS as they graduated at the SLU Cenzon Covered Court. Alongside is their turn-over ceremony right after the eucharistic celebration. This symbolizes the changing of the CTP Chain of Commands and areminder of the brotherhood and sisterhood of the outgoing and incoming officers. Lastly, the CTP cadets–now, officers did the Entrance of Colors for the graduation ceremony of theirseniors in Grade 10.

As they have graduated, officers also take this moment as special milestone for them and asthey say:

“From the night we slept to the morning we woke up, our minds were filled with mixedemotions—excitement, nervousness, pride, and a quiet sadness. We thought about theuniforms we’d soon hang, the titles we’d soon leave behind, the people and the memories we’dcarry with us. Our preparation may not have been perfect—rushed meetings, last-minutechanges, limited time for training—but through it all, we discovered the true meaning ofleadership, resilience, and unity. 𝙒𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙬𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙬 𝙖𝙨 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚.

Today, we graduate—not only as students or officers, but as kapwa Lousianos who are alwayswilling to help, to lead, and to serve with compassion. Every hardship, every laugh, every smallmoment we once overlooked now holds meaning. The faces we met, the friendships we built, and the cadets we helped guide—all of it was worth it.
