Keeping Wellness and Trash Responsibly Organized (Kwatro means 4 o’clock in English) is a school activity done every Friday to monitor, manage, and clean up the school’s waste. It helps everyone in the school such students, teachers, and staff to work as one to keep the surroundings clean and organized. Doing this activity regularly builds good habits and teaches the importance of how we take care of the environment. It also makes sure that waste is properly segregated, garbages in their proper areas and trash bags are organized for easier disposal.

OBJECTIVES:

- Learn how to manage waste properly.
- Practice simple actions that benefit the environment and everyone.
- Work together to solve environmental problems.
- Support global goals:
- SDG 11: Build cleaner, safer communities.
- SDG 13: Take action against climate change.
- Apply the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle).

The AYWANAN program is a student-led initiative that focuses on restoring and protecting the estero within Guisad Valley National High School. It encourages students to actively participate in clean-up drives, proper waste segregation, and recycling efforts to maintain a safe and healthy waterway. This activity is conducted to reduce pollution, prevent flooding, and restore the estero’s natural function. It connects to the Circular Economy by promoting resource recovery through composting, reusing materials, and minimizing waste. This program encourages students to be aware of their surroundings and the one who protects and values their school environment. AYWANAN is an Ilocano word meaning to take good care.

This campaign encourages students and the school community to participate in eco-friendly practices by reviving unused systems and turning them into productive spaces for planting.

The HERBARIUM Project promotes environmental awareness, plant conservation, and appreciation of biodiversity among students. Through hands-on activities such as plant collection, labeling, and maintenance, the project encourages students to value the importance of plants in everyday life, especially their medicinal and ecological benefits.
The use of tarpaulins, laminated labels, and plant displays helped in educating other students about different plant species found within the school and nearby areas. The display of lettuce and maintained plants in visible areas of the school served as a reminder that students can actively contribute to environmental sustainability.

Our school’s paper conservation program shows how simple student actions can create a big environmental impact. What started as a small initiative has grown into a shared responsibility among students and teachers. Every Friday, we collect used paper like old worksheets and notebooks to reduce waste and promote recycling.

This weekly activity teaches us discipline, teamwork, and the importance of consistency. It also helps us become more aware of our daily habits and how we can take care of our environment. Through this program, we learn that even small actions can make a difference.

More than just collecting paper, this initiative inspires us to practice sustainability in our everyday lives. It reminds us to value resources and protect our planet for the future. Together, we prove that when a community works as one, meaningful change is possible.
