Women’s empowerment through transformative training, education, advocacy, and organizing.

HER-GOALS

To sustain our spiritualities that birth and maintain our relationships with others, the whole creation, and our Creator;

To sustain the life forces in our communities through the interface of our indigenous beliefs and Christian faith;

To facilitate opportunities and resources for women and men to attain full and satisfying lives;

To establish mutually affirming and life-giving relationships based on the fundamental equality of women and men in value and rights;

To facilitate actions that protect and sustain our ancestral domain based on the integrity of creations and our indigenous practices of stewardship and caring for the earth;

To help establish mechanisms to uplift the socio-economic conditions of partner communities according to their stewardship role and spiritualities.

HER-PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

A. Indigenous Spirituality Enhancement Program. Promote a continually evolving Spirituality affirmed and nurtured by life-giving values which enable us to sustain the life forces within us, our families and our communities.

B. Gender and Development Program. From our awareness of Gender and Development springs an ardent commitment to work in transforming gender-based relationships that impinge on the holistic development of women. We aim to:

Advocate the mainstreaming of gender and development;

Help establish mechanisms according to indigenous people’s stewardship role to uplift women’s socio-economic conditions.

C. Ancestral Domain Program. To ensure that our region remain worthy as our children’s legacy, we pursue efforts in response to the issues of development aggression, underdevelopment, and the risks of climate change. We aim to:

Sustain the resources of our ancestral domain through the indigenous knowledge, systems, and practices in development work, the respect and exercise by indigenous people in their rights;

Strengthen community’s resilience to climate change by increasing their capacities and mainstreaming indigenous knowledge, systems and practices in disaster risk reduction and management, and resiliency programs.

D. Learning Resource Center Services. The center houses reference materials, and serves as venue for learning on gender, women and Cordillera issues; undertakes research and information generation; and publishes the Igorota Magazine for the expression and exchange of ideas and experiences on women and Cordillera issues.
