🚀 V2I INTL VOLUNTEERS CONDUCT MENTORSHIP FOR BAGUIO YOUTH INNOVATORS AND LEADERS 🌐

In a span of 3 weeks from February 6–25, the Cordilleran Youth Center (C*C) hosted 40 international volunteers from Venture 2 Impact, a Canadian global non-profit connecting experts and professionals with local changemakers.

In partnership with Global Infrastructure Basel - GIB under the Safe and Sound Cities (S²Cities) Programme, this initiative mobilized over 100 Baguio City innovators, university student leaders and C*C staff and partners. Industry experts from Netflix, Apple, Salesforce, Workday, and DocuSign delivered hands-on workshops and mentorship to boost operational capacity, digital awareness, and communication strategies.

Here is a look back at what was accomplished together:

⚙️ Innovator Workshops: Deep-dives into project growth, scaling strategies, and long-term sustainability with our 2023 and 2025 innovation teams.

🏔️Cultural Immersion: Introducing volunteers to the lived realities and challenges of Cordilleran youth through discussions and workshops, followed by site visits to youth-led initiatives like Happy Paws Pet Park, the Indigenous Peoples’ Hub, and Siglat Hub (a product of our S²Cities local government partnership).

📝 University Roadshows: Practical digital marketing, social media management, and content creation bootcamps hosted at the University of the Cordilleras, University of Baguio, and UP Baguio to equip student leaders with practical tools.

🗣️ Capacity Building with C*C and partners: Weekly wrap-up sessions focusing on streamlining organizational systems and upgrading digital security frameworks.

🤝 By linking global expertise with local passion, this program has strengthened the blueprint for sustainable, youth-led community impact. A massive thank you to our volunteers, partners, and innovators for an unforgettable three weeks!

🗣️ C*C JOINS PANEL ON MULTI-STAKEHOLDER PARTNERSHIPS IN INT’L CONFERENCE ON COMMUNITY RESILIENCE

📣 C*C shared its local experience on community engagement, partnerships, and youth-led initiatives during the International Conference for Local Equitable and Inclusive Resilience 2026, held in Baguio City from April 14–16, 2026.

🌐 The conference was hosted by ICLEI Southeast Asia. It gathered national and local government representatives, along with members of civil society from various countries. The three-day conference served as a platform for learning exchange among stakeholders in shaping inclusive and resilient communities amid environmental and socio-political challenges.

🤝 C*C’s Christian Dave Ruz joined a panel alongside representatives from various civil society organizations, including Alinea International, Expertise France, the National Resilience Council, and the Rotary Club – Baguio Chapter. Ruz focused on the role of the youth and the need for their inclusion in decision-making and co-creation in community-building. He stressed that institutions, especially local governments, must ensure meaningful youth engagement that empowers and allows young people to thrive—supporting their voices, advocacies, and organizations.

🗣️ He also flagged that belittling or silencing youth voices not only violates their rights but also leads to pacification and discourages engagement. Youth are not mere ceremonial or token representatives in decision-making; they must hold real power and be equally respected.

We thank ICLEI-Southeast Asia for this opportunity to share, connect and learn!

⛰️ METRO BAGUIO — DAY 2!

Day 2 of the Metro Baguio leg of the 42nd Peoples’ Cordillera Day is happening in Benguet!

Together with Benguet State University (BSU) and Dap-ayan ti Kultura iti Kordilyera, the Cordilleran Youth Center brings ASPULAN, a community discourse that centers our collective struggle for land, life, and livelihood.

Keynote speaker Ma’am Joanna Cariño of the Cordillera Peoples Alliance Advisory Council joins us, alongside panel speakers to look back on key highlights in the history of the Cordillera mass movement, grounded in the fight for land, life, and livelihood.

📣 With the call, “Ipinget ti Karbengan iti Daga, Biag, ken Kabiagan,” we continue to assert our right to self-determination and ancestral lands amid worsening economic conditions.

DAGA, BIAG, KINABAKNANG, SALAKNIBAN!

⛰️ METRO BAGUIO

People from different sectors, vendors, drivers, youth, and workers, are coming together at Block 4 of the Baguio City Public Market for the decentralized celebration of the 42nd Peoples’ Cordillera Day in Metro Baguio! More than a commemoration, this is a collective stand to defend our land, life, and livelihood.

📣 As stories of Cordillera Day are shared, calls grow stronger against the worsening oil crisis, rising prices, and threats to our public market.

⛰️ MOUNTAIN PROVINCE

🤝 Cordillera Day celebration of Mt. Province is now happening in Tadian, Mt. Province!

✊️ This year’s Cordillera Day celebration in MP honors the unwavering unity of the Kaigorotan amid the worsening crises of imperialist aggression and the plunder of our resources. It hails our people’s steadfast commitment to carry forward the struggles of Ama Macli-ing Dulag and all the martyrs and heroes of our land.

📣 With the central theme, “Ipinget ti karbengan iti daga, biag, kabiagan!” we hold on the torch to persist, resist and struggle amidst hardships and challenges!

⛰️ ABRA

✊🏼 In celebration of the 42nd Peoples' Cordillera Day, delegates from different communities in Abra affected by the EXPA 129 of Yamang Mineral Corporation (YMC) continue to reject the entry of these destructive large-scale projects in their respective communities.

✊🏼 We amplify the call to assert our right to land, life and resources: SUMIKAD ABRRA! NO TO EXPA 129! NO TO LARGE AND DESTRUCTIVE MINING IN ABRA!

⛰️ KALINGA

✊️ Kalinga takes its turn as communities and delegates gather in Tabuk for the 42nd Peoples’ Cordillera Day, honoring the legacy of Macli-ing Dulag and the enduring struggle of the Cordillera peoples to defend land, life, and self determination!

✊️ We remember Macli-ing Dulag and the people of the Cordillera who led the resistance against the Chico River Dam Project under the Marcos dictatorship. This collective resistance became a turning point in the defense of ancestral land and the assertion of indigenous peoples rights. Their legacy lives on in today's continuing struggle.

✊️ Accross the region, our call resounds: DAGA, BIAG, KINABAKNANG, SALAKNIBAN!

📣 BEEP, BEEP! SAGIP JEEP! BAGUIO CITY, ANO TARA?

As fuel costs rise and assistance remains insufficient, numerous jeepney drivers and operators have been forced to stop running their routes. As a result, daily commuting in Baguio City has become more difficult, with fewer rides available for everyone.

💯 As citizens, we must stand in solidarity with the transport sector. We can show our support by supporting the voluntary fare hike of 20 php initiated by Baguio drivers.

📥 We're also setting up boxes inside jeepneys where we can donate any amount!

✊ Their fight is our fight. It’s up to us to step in and help one another. When support falls short and government incompetency and negligence persist, it’s the people’s bayanihan that keeps our city moving.

Tulong-tulong. Sama-sama. Kasiyana!
