The MOMFI-verse officially welcomed a new batch of mission-ready heroes! 🌌🕷️

The MOMFI General Orientation 2026 successfully brought together new and continuing MOMFIans for an afternoon of learning and fellowship. From discovering how MOMFI started and understanding what we stand for to getting ready for the missions ahead, our newest members are now one step closer to becoming truly mission-ready MOMFIans! 🩺✨

🚨 𝐂𝐌𝐌𝐄 𝟑: 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐔𝐌𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝐃𝐄 — 𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐘 𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐒 🚨

Despite the stormy weather, enthusiastic incoming 2nd year and 3rd year medical students showed up to sharpen their knowledge and skills in emergency care. Led by Dr. Ethel Joy E. Aagaid, MD, FPCEM, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Toxicology, a comprehensive lecture about the approach to poisoned patients was delivered.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon, rescue volunteers from the Philippine Red Cross – Baguio City Chapter held a First Aid and Basic Life Support – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training and workshop.

Indeed it was a day full of learning, hands-on skills, and lifesaving essentials! 🩺❤️

𝐂𝐌𝐌𝐄 𝟒: 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞
𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏 & 𝟐 | 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The SLU-MOMFI successfully conducted CMME 4, a two-day learning and skills development program designed to strengthen the clinical knowledge and practical competencies of medical students.

The first day, held on August 5, focused on Physical Examination and Phlebotomy, combining lectures with hands-on workshops. Participants strengthened their approach to performing comprehensive physical examinations and gained practical experience in essential phlebotomy techniques. The day concluded with a Mini OSCE, providing an opportunity for participants to apply and demonstrate the skills they had learned.

On August 14, the program continued online with sessions on History Taking, Mental Status Examination (MSE), Case-Based Learning (CBL), and Case Presentation Conference (CPC). These sessions emphasized the importance of effective patient interviewing, systematic clinical assessment, and sound clinical reasoning in the practice of medicine.

Beyond the lectures and workshops, CMME 4 served as an avenue for medical students to learn, practice, and grow together. By developing both technical skills and clinical reasoning, the program aims to prepare future physicians to approach every patient with competence, confidence, and compassion.

Through continuous learning and shared experiences, SLU-MOMFI remains committed to nurturing future healthcare professionals who are ready to serve with knowledge, skill, and heart.

📍 Last 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 2, the 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙁𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙄𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 (𝙈𝙊𝙈𝙁𝙄) held a successful medical outreach at 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥 7, 𝘽𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙤 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙩.

Services provided include 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙀𝙉𝙏 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜.

Through the 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨 of our volunteers, they were able to serve a total of 103 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨, with 50 being 𝙥𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 and 53 being 𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨, displaying the 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚.

🩺 Ready to take your next step into clinical medicine?

We invite INCOMING SECOND YEAR medical students to join CMME 4 - Clinical Kickstart: Road to MD-II, a two-day lecture and workshop series designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of clinical medicine and hopefully equip you with some of the essential knowledge and practical skills needed as you begin MD-II. Through interactive lectures, hands-on workshops, and case-based learning, you will be introduced to the basics of history taking, physical examination, phlebotomy, and CPC making.

On July 3, 2026, members of SLU-MOMFI, in partnership with the Baguio-Benguet Medical Society (BBMS), participated in a tree planting activity at Camp John Hay, Baguio City. United by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and community service, the initiative highlighted the importance of preserving nature as an essential component of promoting public health and sustainable development.

The activity brought together healthcare professionals, medical students, and volunteers in a collective effort to contribute to a greener and healthier environment. By planting trees, participants supported ongoing reforestation efforts while fostering environmental awareness, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the role of every individual in protecting the planet for future generations.

More than an environmental initiative, the tree planting activity reflected the shared vision of SLU-MOMFI and the Baguio-Benguet Medical Society of serving communities beyond the clinical setting. Every tree planted symbolizes hope, resilience, and a lasting investment in a healthier and more sustainable future.
