On August 17, 2026, SLU Department of Psychology opened its doors to welcome the newest members of the family โ€” the Freshmen Batch of 2030. The day began with the STELA orientation at Prince Bernhard Gym, where our Department Head, Sir Asher Ephraim Bayot, gave an overview of the Psychology Department, and the President of the Psyche Society, Candace Timbreza, gave a first glimpse of what it means to be part of it.

Later that afternoon, the Psychology Department held its own orientation, starting with registration and reminders from hosts Randella Dela Rea and Marianne Murla. A prayer led by Andrea Abulencia asked for graces for the event, followed by warm words from Sir Asher Bayot. The energy rose as the executive committee taught the freshies the Psyche Yell, filling the gym with voices that are loud, proud, and full of spirit.

To root the students more deeply in their new journey, the history of the department was shared through a fun tula-dula performed by the executive committee and narrators Randella Dela Rea and Lance Madio.

Intermissions brought joy and pride as the award-winning Psy Clips: Namnama and a performance by Trans and Dance showed off the talent and heart of our community.

The curriculum was also introduced in a creative skit, through the story of Jinniper, a student whose journey unfolded year by year until graduation. Faculty members were also introduced, with a fun icebreaker that had students guessing their professorsโ€™ names, sparking laughter and bonding. The Psyche Society was presented once more, showing the many opportunities for growth and connection.

The day ended with one last round of the Psyche Yell and a photo opportunity that captured the smiles, energy, and excitement of Batch 2030.

This orientation was more than just a programโ€”it was a warm welcome and a reminder that in the Psychology community, every freshie is family. The journey ahead may be challenging, but with hope, laughter, and unity, Batch 2030 is ready to soar!

Rescheduling of the August 2026 Psychologists and Psychometricians Licensure Examination

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) informs all concerned examinees that the August 2026 Psychologists Licensure Examination (PSLE) and Psychometricians Licensure Examination (PMLE), scheduled on 19 and 20 August 2026, respectively, are RESCHEDULED to 01 and 02 September 2026, respectively.

The cancellation is upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in view of the Heavy Rainfall Warnings issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) relative to the continuous heavy rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon.

Psyche Society, the co-curricular organization for Psychology students, is currently being introduced during the Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) School Orientation at the Prince Bernard Gymnasium this morning of August 17.

Led by Candace Aila Timbreza, the presentation provides incoming Psychology students with an introduction to their department-based student organization and its activities.

On August 13, 2026, the Psychology Department gathered at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish for a solemn and heartfelt mass blessing dedicated to the upcoming Psychology Licensure Examination (PsLE) and Psychometrician Licensure Examination (PmLE). The celebration began at 3:00 PM, bringing together students, faculty, and the community in prayer and support.

Before the mass concluded, the exam board takers were called forward and received a special prayer and blessing from Rev. Fr. Louis Vuadi. This moment served as a reminder that their journey is not only academic but also spiritual, anchored in faith, perseverance, and hope.

After the mass, the exam takers joined the faculty of the Psychology Department for a photo opportunity, followed by a short kamustahan. Professors offered words of encouragement and advice, assuring the students of their guidance and confidence in their abilities. The gathering ended with warm farewells and heartfelt wishes of success, as the department stood together in support of its future professionals.

The Psychology Department extends its prayers and best wishes to all exam takers. May this blessing strengthen their resolve and inspire them to carry the values of service, compassion, and excellence into their chosen paths.

The Center for Counseling and Wellness (CCW) is making ๐๐ฌ๐ฒ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐…๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐€๐ข๐ (๐๐…๐€) available to Louisian students impacted by the recent storms, such as Maymay and Luis, who are experiencing distress, anxiety, worry, or emotional difficulty due to the crisis.

The CCW staff, together with our trained PFA Providers, student and employee volunteers, are ready to listen, provide immediate support, and help connect you to appropriate resources when needed.

Volunteers are available to accommodate PFA requests.

Psychological First Aid provides immediate, compassionate, and practical support to individuals experiencing distress following a crisis or disaster.
