The Society of United Mathematicians and Scientists (SUMS) successfully held its General Assembly, bringing together members for a meaningful gathering centered on unity, reflection, and leadership.

The assembly served as an opportunity to look back on the organization's accomplishments, activities, and milestones throughout the academic year, celebrating the collective efforts and active participation of its members. It also marked an important transition with the election of the new set of SUMS officers for Academic Year 2026–2027, who are entrusted to continue the organization's commitment to service, excellence, and student engagement.

As one chapter comes to a close and another begins, may we continue to strengthen our community through collaboration, dedication, and a shared passion for mathematics, science, and leadership.

🌿🔬 The University of the Cordilleras – College of Teacher Education (UC-CTE) and SUMS extends its support to Mr. Piolo C. Miranda of UC-CAS as he presents his research, "Hidden Among the Leaves: Investigating Foodborne Parasites in Chinese Cabbage Sold at La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post in Benguet, Philippines,” during the 14th Regional Health Research Conference of the Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (CRHRDC).

The study examines the presence of foodborne parasites in Chinese cabbage sold at one of the country's major vegetable trading hubs. Its findings underscore the importance of proper food handling, sanitation practices, and continuous monitoring to help safeguard public health and food safety.

We are proud to support fellow UC faculty members who contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the dissemination of research that addresses relevant regional concerns.
