Late Post...

Day 1 at JGI Youth Camp 2026 was a total blessing! ๐Ÿ™

From the smiles, the friendships, and the moments of faith, we saw firsthand how God moves in the lives of His people. It was the perfect reminder that no matter how tired or weak we may feel, the Lord is always there to renew our strength. And boy, did we see that happen when our young ones arrived at a new and far place ๐ŸŒ, met new friends ๐Ÿค, and began this amazing journey together, though awkward at first! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

Few Takeaways from Day 1:

1. The campers developed communication and collaboration skills as they met new people and worked together. ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿค
2. Youngsters stood up and became leaders in the group, stepping out of their comfort zones. ๐ŸŒŸ
3. The campers created their own yell that showed their creativity! ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ”ฅ

โ€œHe gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.โ€
Isaiah 40:29

We are beyond grateful to God for such a strong and meaningful start to this journey. And of course, a huge THANK YOU to the parents, donors, and all the staff who made this possible. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Here are some photos that capture the Blessings of Day 1! ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

Title of Message: Give THANKS

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is Godโ€™s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV)

In the final instructions of 1 Thessalonians 5, the Apostle Paul gives a rapido nga style and list of what the Christian life should look like as we await the "day of the Lord" (1 Thess. 5:1-11). Verse 18 is not a standalone command but the central pillar in a triad of commands in verses 16-18: "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances." This "thanks" is not a passive feeling, but an active, deliberate posture of the heart that transforms our entire perspective.

Here is how we can understand and apply it through the acronym T.H.A.N.K.S.:

T - Total Circumstances
"In all circumstances..."
This is the most challenging part of the verse. It does not mean we give thanks for everything (like sin, evil, or tragedy), but in the midst of everything. The context of the letter is a church facing persecution and grief (1 Thess. 1:6, 4:13). Paul is calling them to a faith that looks beyond the immediate pain to the enduring character of God and His ultimate salvation. Itโ€™s a command to trust that God is at work even when our circumstances are difficult.

H - Heart of God's Will
"...for this is Godโ€™s will for you..."
We often agonize over discovering "God's will" for our lives. Here, Paul makes it stunningly clear: one undeniable aspect of God's will is for you to be a thankful person. Itโ€™s not a mystery to be solved but a command to be obeyed. In the context of the chapter, living a life marked by thankfulness is part of being "awake and sober" (5:6), ready for Christ's return. It is the direct opposite of the grumbling, anxious spirit of the "night."

A - Anchored in Christ Jesus
"...in Christ Jesus."
We are not called to muster up a thankful heart through sheer willpower. The power and ability to give thanks in all things comes from our union with Christ Jesus. He is the ultimate reason for our thanks. Because of His work on the cross and the promise of our salvation (1 Thess. 5:9-10), our ultimate destiny is secure. This secure hope becomes the anchor that allows us to be thankful even when the storms of life rage.

N - Nurtured by Continuous Prayer
"(Rejoice always, pray continually...)"
Thankfulness (v.18) is inextricably linked to joy (v.16) and prayer (v.17). A thankful heart is nurtured by a constant, open line of communication with God. When we "pray continually," we are constantly re-aligning our perspective with God's, seeing His hand in the big and small details of our lives. This ongoing conversation makes thankfulness a default reaction, not a last resort.

K - Key to Spiritual Readiness
(Context: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11)
The entire chapter is about being spiritually ready for the Lord's return. A thankful heart is a key component of this readiness. Gratitude fights against the spiritual dullness and despair that Paul associates with the "darkness" (5:4-7). It keeps our focus on God's faithfulness and promises, making us "awake and sober" as we wait.

S - Sanctifying Power
(The Benefit: It Changes Us)
The benefit of thankfulness is its sanctifying effect on our souls. It actively fights against bitterness, anxiety, and entitlement. In the context of the church (5:12-15), a thankful spirit promotes peace, encourages the fainthearted, and helps us be patient with everyone. It transforms our relationships because we start to see others as gifts from God, even when they are challenging.

May we always be thankful for everything God is doing in our lives.
