CALL FOR ENTRIES: Experiments and Experiences: The Science of Student LIFE

Behind every beaker, microscope, and research paper is a story — your story.

LIFE Magazine invites all students of the School of Natural Sciences to share their “Lab Life” stories — your slice-of-life experiences that capture the heart of being a science student on campus.

Tell us about your struggles, breakthroughs, friendships, and small victories in the lab or classroom. Show how your scientific journey connects with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting both your challenges and your commitment to change.

Your story may relate to:
• SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – maintaining balance amid deadlines and lab work
• SDG 4: Quality Education – learning beyond textbooks and finding meaning in discovery
• SDG 5: Gender Equality – empowering all voices in the sciences
• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – exploring ways to protect vital resources
• SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – advancing sustainable innovations
• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – promoting sustainability in experiments and daily life
• SDG 13: Climate Action – taking part in the fight for our planet’s future

Submit your story (and a photo, optional) that showcases your authentic Lab Life — the curiosity, the chaos, the growth, and the impact.

Selected stories will be featured in LIFE Magazine celebrating how Natural Science students turn challenges into change and learning into life. Best entries will be selected will be printed and be given LIFE MAG merchandise.

Because in every experiment, there’s a lesson — and in every scientist, there’s a story worth telling.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝚰𝐂𝐋𝐄 | University of Baguio hosts a successful blood donation drive: “DUGONG UBIANO”

The University of Baguio (UB) hosted its blood donation drive, “DUGONG UBIANO,” at the UB Centennial Hall, receiving tremendous support from students, faculty, and volunteers. The event took place on August 30 2025, in partnership with the School of Nursing, the Philippine Red Cross, the Philippine Red Cross Youth group, and the School of Natural Sciences (SNS).

The blood drive aims to assist in addressing the community's continuous demand for blood donations. The Philippine Red Cross, led by Sir Gideon, Chief Medical Technologist Ma’am Marilyn Tomilas, and Sir John of the Philippine Red Cross Youth, spearheaded the activity. Additionally, faculty members from the School of Natural Sciences and medical interns also participated in the event.

A representative from Notre Dame also joined, with Sir Matthew Abasola taking part as a key figure in the collaborative effort. The blood donation drive not only demonstrated community solidarity but also provided a chance for students to actively engage in humanitarian service — an initiative that UB consistently advocates for among its students.

UB’s “DUGONG UBIANO” continues to highlight the university's commitment to fostering a culture of social responsibility and community engagement, while ensuring a steady supply of blood for those in need.
