𝗨𝗕 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝟴𝟲.𝟳𝟴% 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗠𝗧𝗟𝗘

The University of Baguio (UB) community celebrates another academic achievement when graduates from the School of Natural Sciences (SNS) do exceptionally well on the Medical Technologists Licensure Examination (MTLE) in August 2026.

Demonstrating exceptional preparation and dedication, UB's first-time test-takers achieved an outstanding 92.59% passing rate, with 150 passing out of 162 candidates. Combined with the repeater performance, the university produced 151 newly licensed professionals out of 174 total examinees, culminating in an impressive overall passing rate of 86.78%—surpassing the 74.62% national passing rate.

This victory was made possible by the incessant efforts, hardwork, and sleepless nights of the new RMTs. Now that they have taken another step closer to their dream of being medical technologists, these young aspiring professionals may soon answer the call of duty in the diagnostic, public health, government,hospital, and research agencies.

The UB administration, faculty, and the entire academic staff congratulate the passers and acknowledge the efforts of the mentors who contributed to the triumph of the UB's new RMTs.

𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵: 𝗦𝗡𝗦 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

On August 25, 2026, the School of Natural Sciences (SNS) gathered 419 students at the University of Baguio Gymnasium for a transformative four-hour Social Orientation event facilitated in partnership with Every Nation Campus (ENC).

Hosted by SNS representatives Mr. Eitan Hunter Rivera, a Physical Therapy student, and Ms. Precious Mae Ebreo, a Medical Laboratory Science student, the morning opened with the traditional invocation, national anthem, and loyalty song before moving into activities centered on building community.

At the heart of the event was ENC’s introduction of its foundational LIFE values: Leadership, Integrity, Faith, and Excellence. These were presented not merely as abstract ideals, but as critical guideposts for navigating and thriving in modern campus life.

To further guide and support students, Dr. Geraldine Agpes introduced the SOCORN Facilitators for Academic Year 2026–2027: Ms. Farah Jane Musni (LAA), Dr. Geraldine Agpes (LAB), Mr. Oliver Edward Jose Garcia (LAC), Mr. Gedenner Calangan (LAD), Ms. Laura Ananayo (LAE), Ms. Miroma Villacrusis (LAF), Ms. Rio Emerald Dimalanta (LAG), Ms. Jessa Mae Bustillo (LAH), Ms. Jemelyn Corpuz (LAI), Ms. Gezzel Mendoza-Egania (OAA), and Ms. Abiegail Publico (OAB).

The morning gained momentum through interactive activities and moments of reflection. An energetic game of Human Bingo set a positive tone, encouraging students and facilitators to step out of their shells and form immediate connections.

This lively atmosphere paved the way for the event’s core message, delivered in two sessions by ENC Campus Director Mr. Mark Lesther Buena-Agua. His first session focused on “Purpose,” exploring the existence of an intended goal while emphasizing why students are called to their campus.

The session was followed by an intimate processing activity involving students and 46 ENC facilitators, led by Campus Missionary Ms. Ellah Dumaguing and Medical Laboratory Science student Ms. Renee Andrea Ubando.

The activities included the “Reflection Question Metacard,” which encouraged students to engage in deeper introspection, and “Values Ranking,” which fostered collaboration as participants explored and processed what they value most.

Following a brief 20-minute break, BA Music students Louise Lubrico and Lizciana Santillan led a lively game of Find Your Ka-Pares. The pair seamlessly transitioned into co-leading the processing session for Mr. Buena-Agua’s second discussion, which centered on “Strength”.

Ms. Lubrico and Ms. Santillan also facilitated the activity “Design Your Ideal College Student,” bringing vibrant energy into the room as students worked together to conceptualize and illustrate their ideas of an ideal college student.

A candid 15-minute Q&A session then allowed students to directly address their real-world concerns about university life, faith, and personal growth with the Campus Director.

As the event drew to a close, Mr. Rivera and Ms. Dumaguing delivered inspiring remarks that brought the program’s message full circle. The morning concluded with administrative reminders from Dean Teresa Villanueva, leaving students with practical guidance, a renewed sense of purpose, and a supportive community to rely on.

The 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒐 - 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 successfully conducted its 𝟓𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚 on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟕,𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 at the University Gymnasium, celebrating a significant milestone in the academic journey of 434 Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS) students as they officially transitioned into clinical internship.

The program commenced at 8 A.M. with the Doxology, the Philippine National Anthem, and the University of Baguio Hymn, attended by students, faculty members, administrators, and the interns' families and loved ones.

The ceremony formally opened with the Welcome Remarks delivered by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐊. 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧,𝐑𝐌𝐓,𝐋𝐏𝐓,𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 (𝐕𝐏𝐀𝐀) of the University of Baguio. In her address, she acknowledged the interns' dedication, perseverance, and commitment throughout their academic journey while encouraging them to uphold the University's core values as they begin their clinical internship. She emphasized that the occasion marked not only an academic achievement but also the beginning of a lifelong commitment to serving with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.

The highlight of the event was the Pinning and Coating Ceremony, where the interns received their official pins and white laboratory coats from the faculty members. The 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 symbolizes the 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 bestowed upon future healthcare professionals, while the 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 coat represents 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚,𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚,𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚,𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒎 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕. The ceremony marked the students' transition from classroom learning to hands-on clinical practice, signifying their readiness to assume greater responsibilities in the healthcare setting.

Adding inspiration to the occasion, the interns viewed a special video presentation prepared by their seniors. The message reflected on the challenges encountered during their academic journey. It reminded the incoming interns to remain resilient, trust in their abilities, and embrace every experience as an opportunity for growth throughout their internship.

The program also featured an inspirational message from 𝑴𝒔. 𝑹𝒆𝒚𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒉 𝒀𝒂𝒈-𝑨𝒐 𝑨𝒍𝒔𝒊𝒚𝒂𝒐,𝑹𝑴𝑻, who shared valuable insights drawn from her experiences as both a healthcare professional and a mother. Through her address, she encouraged the interns to approach their profession with 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏,𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆,𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚,𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒏𝒘𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 despite the demands and realities of the healthcare field.

Following the inspirational message, the interns participated in the Oath-Taking Ceremony, where they formally pledged to uphold the ethical principles of the medical laboratory profession and embody the University of Baguio's core values as they begin their clinical internship in preparation to become future Registered Medical Technologists.

The ceremony concluded with the Closing Remarks delivered by 𝑴𝒓. 𝑫𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑭𝒂𝒓𝒊ñ𝒂𝒔,𝑹𝑴𝑻,𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑩𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒓 ,who commended the interns for their achievements and encouraged them to carry forward the knowledge, values, and professionalism instilled by the University throughout their internship.

The University's 5th Pinning and Coating Ceremony served not only as a recognition of the students' years of perseverance, sacrifice, and academic excellence but also as a celebration of their readiness to embrace the responsibilities of the medical laboratory profession, as well as their resilience, dedication, and unwavering pursuit of excellence.

As they begin the next phase of their journey, the newly pinned and coated 434 interns carry with them the University's commitment to excellence, integrity, and compassionate service in healthcare.✨

The University of Baguio successfully hosted its annual 𝐃𝐮𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐚𝐭 𝟖:𝟎𝟎 𝐀𝐌 at the 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐨. 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝟒𝟎 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 contributing to the continuous demand for blood supply within the community.

The blood drive was conducted in collaboration with several partner institutions, including the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) Blood Bank Team led by Blood Bank Supervisor 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐋. 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐳,, the Philippine Red Cross, and the Red Cross Youth under the leadership of 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐄𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬.The Department of Health was also represented by 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐀𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐥 𝐆𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲..

The activity was further supported by the University of Baguio School of Nursing, led by Clinical Instructors and Student Body Adviser 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐕. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐠and ECOS Coordinator 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐅𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐲-𝐚, together with the School of Natural Sciences.

According to BGHMC, as an apex hospital in the region, the need for blood remains constant due to the increasing number of patients requiring transfusions. The blood drive aimed to help sustain the hospital’s blood supply and support patients who depend on voluntary donations.
The event received strong support from students, faculty members, and volunteers, including 𝐌𝐬. 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐀𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐚. The activity recorded a low percentage of deferred donors, resulting in a higher number of successful blood donations.

Beyond collecting blood units, the initiative also sought to educate the younger generation about the importance of blood donation and to help dispel common myths surrounding the process. Through activities like the Dugong Ubiano Blood Drive, the University of Baguio continues to encourage community involvement and promote a culture of voluntary blood donation.

𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 | The University of Baguio conducted an earthquake drill today at around 3 PM joining the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). When the bell rang, students attending classes at that time were immediately dismissed and instructed to evacuate the campus.

The designated evacuation area was Melvin Jones. Meanwhile, students with classes scheduled after 5 PM are advised to attend their classes as usual.

As wittily joked by a man who writes and leads, “𝙈𝙖𝙮 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙖!” — yet he humbly passed the March 2026 Medical Technology Licensure Examination (MTLE).

The entire Life Magazine family extends its proudest and most heartfelt congratulations to its former 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿-𝗶𝗻-𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳, 𝗝𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗣. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗮𝘁, who has now become a 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁 (𝗥𝗠𝗧).

The University of Baguio’s School of Natural Sciences (SNS) has proudly achieved an impressive 𝟵𝟬.𝟳𝟰% 𝗨𝗕’𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, and the 𝟴𝟰.𝟭𝟯% 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲, with 𝟭𝟲𝟮 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟰𝟳 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀. 𝗨𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟵𝟱.𝟯𝟯% 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 in the MTLE.

With excellence and grit, this milestone would not have been possible without the guidance and dedication of the well-rounded professors from the SNS.

𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚| The University of Baguio School of Natural Sciences conducts its board exam operation with the UB Medical Technology Interns’ Association (MTIA), providing material assistance and firm support to UBian examinees of the March 2026 Medical Technology Licensure Examination. The two-day examination officially commences nationwide, with dedicated testing sites in Baguio City at PRC–CAR, Brentwood Apartelle, and Skyrise Hotel.

“𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘥 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘬𝘰. 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘢 𝘳𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘬𝘰 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘭 𝘬𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘬𝘰.”

Pinning and gowning mark more than the ceremony. The moment arrives when struggle finally answers back, when perseverance takes name and face. Every sleepless night, every repeated procedure, every doubt endured in silence converges here. Inside the halls of the University of Baguio, perseverance was not merely learned. It was earned through patience, discipline, and an unshakable commitment to the profession that quietly and faithfully saves lives.

Medical Laboratory Science was never kind. It asked for diligence when exhaustion drowned ambition and fortitude when hardship blurred direction. Precision demanded sacrifice, and service demanded endurance. Under pressure, it became clear that MLS students are shaped not only by knowledge, but by character strong enough to carry lives in their hands.

The pin and gown are more than symbols. They stand as proof of survival, growth, and becoming. They speak of courage to finish what was started and strength to rise even when certainty was absent. This ceremony honors the journey and reminds everyone that the race was never about speed, but about faith in the ability to endure until the end.

Remember when He carried you when you could no longer take yourself to the internship journey. He will continue to walk with you.
