Part III: Random Snaps
Rain or shine—mostly rain—the culture carries on.

Day 1 of the Gong Festival was a literal whirlwind thanks to Super Typhoon "Uwan," but the storm was no match for the Gasat, Sumya-ana, and Capinitan Cultural Groups. Seeing them show up in their full traditional attire despite the winds was a masterclass in dedication.

After the challenges and the necessary postponement, Day 2 was a total triumph!

Above all, we thank the Creator for keeping every performer and spectator safe. All those months of rehearsals finally echoed through the air, and it was worth the wait.

TWO YEARS IN A ROW! 🏆🏆

We couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off 2026! The Gasat Cultural Dance Group has officially defended its title at the Luneta’s Fiesta Cultural Competition. Achieving a near-perfect average score of 98.33% on New Year’s Day is a testament to the passion we all shared on that stage.

To our dedicated members, your hard work paid off. To the non-members who stepped up and joined us on this journey, this win is yours too. You embraced our rhythm and our culture as if it were your own, and we are so grateful for your energy and dedication.

The "Gasat" legacy continues. Let’s make the rest of 2026 just as legendary! ✨

The Gasat Cultural Dance Group is incredibly grateful and honored to have been invited by Lyneree Wly Montero-Yodong, representing Ms. Universe Philippines Benguet—Poblacion Tuba, to perform our cultural dance for her winning tourism advocacy video. Sharing the rich heritage and vibrant culture of Benguet through our performance was a highlight for our group. It was inspiring to work with a queen who is so genuinely committed to promoting our beautiful home.

To her entire team—the creative minds, the dedicated handlers, and the unwavering supporters—thank you for your belief in her vision and for showcasing the true spirit of Benguet to the world. Your victory is well-deserved!

Lyneree Wly Montero-Yodong, thank you for championing our culture and for proving that passion and heart are the most valuable crowns of all. We wish you a successful and impactful reign as Miss Universe Tourism 2026!

"UB-UBO" Final Rehearsal in anticipation of the Panagbenga Cultural Dance Competition.

As the fields turn golden, the people of Western Mountain Province come together in the spirit of Ub-ubo (og-ogbo [Kan.], ububfo [Bon.]), helping one another in the harvest. After the hard work, the community gathers for Begnas, a sacred feast of thanksgiving filled with the sound of gongs, dancing, chanting, and shared food. The Gasat Cultural Dance Group will bring these traditions to life, showcasing Dallok and Daing, chants of gratitude to the Creator performed through dance, as well as Takik, the Aplai’s Thanksgiving dance. They will also present Sakuting, once a mockfight, now a playful dance game among children, and Tallibeng, a joyous dance celebrating community and victory.

All glory to God!

Our before, during, and after photos from Luneta's Cultural Dance Competition 2025. Being the champion would not have been possible without everyone's tireless effort and selfless sacrifice. We began the year being na-GASAT, and we hope that everyone does as well!

HAPPY FIESTA LUNETA and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025🎆!
The Gasat Cultural Dance Group competed in the Luneta Cultural Dance Competition. They managed to win the title of champion with an average score of 91.5% out of eight participant groups.

The group's performance revolved around the celebration of a prosperous harvest. They also incorporated Takik, Daing, Tallibeng, Dallok, and Inan-aninit into their dance.

Takik—one of the most common ritual dances of Western Mt. Province, performed during the begnas, or any ordinary occasion.

Daing—a grapevine steps and chanting while debating an issue or expressing emotions.

Tallibeng—a Western Mt. Province common dance for all.

Dallok—another debating dance where female and male dancers are facing each other. Chanting all together, they all meet in the middle executing the hop-bend-raise steps then walk backwards uniformity to their former positions.

Inan-aninit—a dance with slow and twitching body movements along with the slow peculiar striking of the gongs.

Lastly, we would like to give our utmost appreciation to our beloved manong mentor in helping us out during our preparation of this competition.
