Moog Hiking Club promotes responsible hiking, camping and other outdoor recreation activities as meaningful pursuits with physical, mental and social benefits, and as a means to advocate environmental awareness and sustainable practices. At the foundation of our organizational values is quality outdoor education. The Hiking Club aims to provide relevant and up-to-date knowledge and techniques through hands-on teaching of skills that will make our outdoor experiences safe and enjoyable.
The Basic Mountaineering Course is the standard of education for outdoor principles and techniques aimed at Philippine hiking and climbing enthusiasts. It is a two-day workshop where lectures and discussion are emphasized with individual activities and group exercises that create a dynamic not uncommon in typical outdoor scenarios.
The Hiking Club participates actively with the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines Incorporated (MFPI) and partners with certified instructors from the organization in providing quality education. The MFPI is the umbrella organization of mountaineering clubs and outdoor societies in the country since 1979. The Hiking Club aligns its objectives with the MFPI mission of promoting responsible mountaineering by setting the benchmarks to ensure the knowledge and development of skills necessary for enjoyable and safe outdoor activities, our commitment to the preservation of mountain ecosystems, and a healthy respect for fellow outdoor enthusiasts and local communities.
