On June 6, 2026, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Baguio-Benguet Chapter held a Necrological Service in honor of our departed colleague, senior, mentor, adviser, and pillar, Atty. Reynaldo “Rene” A. Cortes.

The solemn gathering brought together members of the IBP Baguio-Benguet Chapter and other chapters, family, friends, and loved ones, to celebrate the life and contributions to the legal profession of Atty. Cortes. The service included eulogies, songs of tribute, personal prayers, and moments of reflection.

As an expression of the Chapter's support to the bereaved family, financial assistance under the Chapter's Mutual Assistance Fund (MAF) was likewise given to Atty. Rene's family during the service.

We continue to extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family of Atty. Rene Cortes. May his memory remain a source of inspiration, and may he rest in eternal peace. 🙏

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Baguio-Benguet Chapter deeply mourns the passing of Atty. Reynaldo Cortes, a distinguished member of the legal profession and a recipient of the IBP Golden Pillar of Law Award and the Chapter’s Human Rights Champion Award.

Atty. Cortes devoted his life to the pursuit of justice and the defense of human dignity. Through his steadfast advocacy and unwavering commitment to human rights, he exemplified the noblest ideals of the legal profession. His courage, integrity, and compassion inspired fellow lawyers and served as a beacon of hope to those whose voices needed to be heard.

His passing is a profound loss not only to the legal community but also to all whose lives he touched through his service. While we grieve his departure, we honor a life lived with purpose and conviction. His legacy will continue to inspire lawyers to stand firm in the defense of rights, justice, and the rule of law.

The IBP Baguio-Benguet Chapter extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that Atty. Cortes leaves behind a legacy that will endure far beyond his years.

Though he has left this world, the values he championed and the lives he touched will remain a lasting testament to a life well lived.

May he rest in eternal paradise.

Lawyers who have not yet completed registration are urged to do so at the earliest opportunity. Maintaining an active Judiciary account ensures uninterrupted access to the Judiciary’s digital services and supports compliance with ULAS requirements.

The Baguio City Justice Zone, led by its Convenor, Executive Judge Michael V. Francisco, convened its partner stakeholders to further strengthen collaboration and build stronger linkages for future initiatives—advancing the shared mission of bringing justice closer to the community.

The meeting was attended by representatives from EU-GO JUST, CJMM CLAO - Saint Louis University School of Law, RTC-OCC, the IBP – Baguio-Benguet Chapter, the Public Attorney’s Office, the Parole and Probation Administration, OCC-MTCC, the City Prosecution Office, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government, demonstrating a collective commitment to enhancing coordination and delivering more effective justice services.

Through a meaningful dialogue and continued partnerships, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to a responsive, accessible, and people-centered justice system that serves the needs of every sector of society.
