Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) in the Philippines is one of three components of the National Service Training Program, the civic education and defense preparedness program for Filipino college students. Its specific objectives include preparation of college students for service in the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the event of an emergency and their training to become reservists and potential commissioned officers of the AFP. 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗥𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆

On 26 April 2026, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, a Peace Walk and Concert, was conducted at Malcolm Square (People’s Park), bringing together youth leaders, peace advocates, and partner organizations to promote unity, culture, and peace through music and dance.

Organized by the Youth for Peace Baguio Chapter, led by 𝘔𝘴. 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘎𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘙𝘰𝘫𝘰 in collaboration with the Joint Task Unit “Panagkaykaysa” and the 1st Civil Military Operations (CMO) Company, the event carried the theme “𝘔𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦,” highlighting the role of the youth in nation-building and peace promotion. Key personalities included 𝘊𝘰𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘭 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘻, 𝘗𝘊𝘰𝘭 𝘙𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘛𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘭, 𝘔𝘳. 𝘉𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨, 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘨. 𝘔𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰 𝘋𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘨𝘢𝘯 (𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥), 𝘋𝘳. 𝘈𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘎𝘢𝘫𝘦𝘵𝘦, 𝘔𝘳. 𝘙𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘑𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘳, 𝘔𝘳. 𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘺 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘨, who delivered messages of support reinforcing unity and cooperation within the community, and especially 𝘓𝘛𝘊 𝘑𝘌𝘖𝘍𝘙𝘌𝘠 𝘎 𝘊𝘖𝘋𝘐𝘈𝘔𝘈𝘛 (𝘐𝘕𝘍) 𝘗𝘈.

The University of Baguio ROTC Unit actively supported the advocacy through the ex*****on of the 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, contributing to the success of the event and demonstrating its commitment to peacebuilding initiatives.

The University of Baguio Advance ROTC Officers proudly rendered a 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 during the wedding of Mr. Dictador and Mrs. Hanna Mea De Guzman, held at the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS), Baguio City.

With precision and discipline, the officers formed an Arch of Swords—a distinguished military tradition that signifies honor and respect for the couple, both of whom are in service. The couple also performed the ceremonial sword cake-cutting for their first slice, where the bride and groom jointly cut the first slice. This act represents their teamwork and shared responsibility as they start their new life together. This tradition reflects their shared commitment to fulfilling responsibilities as partners in their new life together.

We are truly grateful to have been part of your special day. It was a privilege to witness your union. Once again, congratulations to you both, Mr. and Mrs. De Guzman.

𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲

On 25 April 2026, the University of Baguio ROTC Unit conducted its 13th Virtual Training Day for ROTCPR2 (MS-2) cadets through online instruction under the supervision of the Training Staff, led by 𝘓𝘛𝘊 𝘌𝘗𝘐𝘍𝘈𝘕𝘐𝘖 𝘙 𝘎𝘈𝘔𝘐𝘕𝘋𝘌 𝘝𝘐 𝘗𝘈 (𝘙𝘌𝘚), Commandant.

The Training Day is attended by 263 cadets, focused on 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, delivered by 𝘛𝘚𝘨 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘎 𝘚𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘰 (𝘐𝘕𝘍) 𝘗𝘈. Throughout his lecture, cadets were taught on how to orient maps, proper use of military compass, determine locations, grid coordinates, elevations, azimuth, as well as distance. The lecture also covered 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗮𝗰𝘀 focusing on how to properly select the placement of bivouacs ensuring adequate cover and concealment during marching.

The University of Baguio ROTC Unit participated in the 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗥𝗔𝗔𝗧𝗜) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 held at Benguet State University, where ROTC units demonstrated discipline, skills, and tactical competence.

The UB ROTC cadets excelled in the assembly and disassembly of the M16A1 rifle, earning a perfect 100% rating. Ten randomly selected cadets out of twenty performed with speed and accuracy, recording 7 seconds for disassembly and 14 seconds for assembly. All unit achieved an overall rating of 98.7%, reflecting strong performance, discipline, and consistent training.

On 19 April 2026, the University of Baguio ROTC Unit participated in the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) held at KM6, La Trinidad, Benguet, hosted by the Benguet State University ROTC Unit and led by 𝘊𝘖𝘓 𝘊𝘈𝘔𝘐𝘓𝘖 𝘈 𝘚𝘈𝘋𝘋𝘈𝘔 𝘐𝘕𝘍 (𝘎𝘚𝘊) 𝘗𝘈.

The conduct of RAATI 2026 was closely overseen by 𝘊𝘖𝘓 𝘖𝘚𝘊𝘈𝘙 𝘉 𝘉𝘈𝘓𝘐𝘎𝘕𝘈𝘚𝘈𝘠 𝘑𝘙. 𝘐𝘕𝘍 (𝘎𝘚𝘊) 𝘗𝘈, in coordination with the 1401st Community Defense Center (1401CDC), together with 𝘓𝘛𝘊 𝘑𝘌𝘖𝘍𝘙𝘌𝘠 𝘎 𝘊𝘖𝘋𝘐𝘈𝘔𝘈𝘛 (𝘐𝘕𝘍) 𝘗𝘈 and 𝘓𝘛𝘊 𝘌𝘋𝘎𝘈𝘙 𝘏 𝘔𝘈𝘋𝘓𝘈𝘐𝘕𝘎 𝘗𝘈 (𝘙𝘌𝘚), ensuring that all activities were carried out in an organized and efficient manner.

The activity was also attended by distinguished guests and officials from Benguet State University, led by 𝘋𝘳. 𝘒𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘈. 𝘓𝘢𝘳𝘶𝘢𝘯, University President, represented by 𝘋𝘳. 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘔. 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘰, Vice President for Business Affairs, along with other administrators who showed their support for the success of the inspection, including 𝘔𝘴. 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘥𝘪, Instructor from the University of Baguio – School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety, who represented the University of Baguio.

The event included the Arrival of Honour, Ceremonial Parade, and Inspection Proper, assessing the readiness of participating ROTC units: 𝘉𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 (𝘉𝘚𝘜) participated in a Fancy Drill, showcasing precision and coordination. 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 (𝘊𝘊𝘋𝘊) engaged in Map Reading, demonstrating navigational competence. 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 (𝘒𝘊𝘗) was involved in Drills and Ceremonies, highlighting synchronization—especially the 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘰 𝘙𝘖𝘛𝘊 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵 (𝘜𝘉) which took part in the Assembly and Disassembly of M16A1 Rifles, demonstrating technical proficiency, focus, and accuracy.

More than just an inspection, RAATI 2026 became a shared milestone of discipline, unity, and excellence among ROTC units—proving that every drill and every task builds stronger, more prepared cadets for the future.

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

After days of intensive training, conducted at the 1401 Community Defense Center (CDC), the University of Baguio ROTC Unit held a special Training Day focused on the 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 of the 𝗠𝟭𝟲𝗔𝟭 𝗥𝗶𝗳𝗹𝗲 under the guidance of 𝘛𝘚𝘨 𝘙𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘔 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘫𝘰 (𝘐𝘯𝘧) 𝘗𝘈, as the unit prepares for the upcoming 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗥𝗔𝗔𝗧𝗜) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Around 40 cadets from the University of Baguio ROTC Unit (UBROTCU) actively participated in the activity, showing discipline, focus, and determination throughout the training. Cadets were instructed on the proper step-by-step procedures in assembling and disassembling the rifle, weapon familiarization, maintenance, and safety protocols in handling military equipment.

The training emphasized the values of precision, speed, alertness, and teamwork—qualities essential in military drills and inspections. Through continuous practice and supervision, cadets improved their confidence and efficiency in performing the required procedures. Through this training, UBROTCU strengthens its mission of producing disciplined, competent, and mission-ready cadets. The unit continues to prepare diligently as it aims to meet and exceed the standards required for RAATI 2026.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀, 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿

On 11 and 18 April 2026, the University of Baguio ROTC Unit conducted its 11th and 12th Virtual Training Days for ROTCPR2 (MS-2) cadets through online instruction under the supervision of the Training Staff, led by 𝘓𝘛𝘊 𝘌𝘗𝘐𝘍𝘈𝘕𝘐𝘖 𝘙 𝘎𝘈𝘔𝘐𝘕𝘋𝘌 𝘝𝘐 𝘗𝘈 (𝘙𝘌𝘚), Commandant. The activity aimed to continuously develop cadets’ military knowledge, discipline, and readiness despite the virtual setup.

The 11th Training Day was attended by 299 cadets and featured a lecture on 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀: 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, delivered by 𝘛𝘚𝘨 𝘙𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘔 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘫𝘰 (𝘐𝘕𝘍) 𝘗𝘈. Cadets were taught proper squad movement, formation procedures, and teamwork essential in military operations. This was followed by a video presentation on 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲, emphasizing proper handling, coordination, and safety measures.

The 12th Training Day, attended by 265 cadets, focused on 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝟮), delivered by 2𝘓𝘛 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘈 𝘉𝘶𝘨𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘈 (𝘙𝘌𝘚), Assistant Commandant. The lecture highlighted the importance of discipline, respect, courtesy, and the core values that guide every soldier in service to the nation.

These virtual training sessions strengthened both the tactical skills and moral foundation of cadets, proving that learning and leadership continue beyond the parade ground. Through discipline in formation and honor in tradition, UBROTC cadets remain committed to excellence and prepared for future training.

𝐈𝐊𝐀-𝟖𝟒 𝐍𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐀 𝐒𝐀 𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐖 𝐍𝐆 𝐊𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐍 | 𝐔𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐂 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐒

“𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀”

On 09 April 2026, the University of Baguio Advance ROTC Unit participated in the 𝟴𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 (𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗿) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀’ 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 in La Trinidad, Benguet through 𝗟𝗔𝗞𝗔𝗗 𝗞𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗔𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, under the theme; “𝘎𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘪, 𝘗𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘪.”

In a somber tribute to the heroes of World War II, the Municipality of La Trinidad, led by 𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘊. 𝘈𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯 together with La Trinidad Chief of Police 𝘗𝘓𝘵. 𝘊𝘰𝘭. 𝘡𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘺 𝘗. 𝘋𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘯 and members of the Sangguniang Bayan, spearheaded the commemoration. Floral wreaths were placed at the Jose Rizal and Veterans Shrine as a profound symbol of honor.

The activity was joined by representatives from the La Trinidad People’s Council, La Trinidad Women’s Brigade, La Trinidad Masonic Lodge 344, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP), VFP Sons and Daughters Association, Inc., EAPDATS (Municipal Scholars), and Mister and Miss La Trinidad. Also present were the Joint Task Unit “Panagkakaysa” Baguio, Benguet Police Provincial Office (BPPO), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Criminology Interns, and especially the 1401st Community Defense Center (CDC) with ROTC units from the University of Baguio (UB), Kings College of the Philippines (KCP), Benguet State University – La Trinidad Campus (BSU), and Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) with the guidance of 𝘓𝘛𝘊 𝘑𝘌𝘖𝘍𝘙𝘌𝘠 𝘎 𝘊𝘖𝘋𝘐𝘈𝘔𝘈𝘛 (𝘐𝘕𝘍) 𝘗𝘈, 𝘛𝘚𝘨 𝘙𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘔 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘫𝘰 (𝘐𝘯𝘧) 𝘗𝘈, 𝘛𝘚𝘨 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘎 𝘚𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘰 (𝘐𝘯𝘧) 𝘗𝘈, 𝘛𝘚𝘨 𝘙𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘔 𝘖𝘳𝘪𝘵 (𝘐𝘯𝘧) 𝘗𝘈, 𝘊𝘱𝘭 𝘑𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘳 𝘊 𝘛𝘢𝘯 (𝘘𝘔𝘚) 𝘗𝘈, and 𝘊𝘱𝘭 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘱𝘩 𝘊 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘯 (𝘐𝘕𝘍) 𝘗𝘈.

The program concluded with a 21-gun salute performed by the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, the highest military honor rendered in solemn tribute, signifying deep respect and remembrance for the fallen heroes. As the echoes of honor faded, one reflection remains:

On this 9th day of April, we salute those who fought bravely for our nation’s freedom. Their courage echoes through history, reminding us that the liberties we enjoy today were earned through sacrifice and unwavering devotion to our country. The University of Baguio Advanced ROTC Unit stands inspired by their valor — committed to uphold discipline, leadership, and service to the Filipino people.

May this day strengthen our resolve to lead with honor, serve with purpose, and carry forward the legacy of courage that defines our nation.
