INSPIRING: IGOROT FROM BENGUET/MOUNTAIN PROVINCE/IFUGAO IS THE YOUNGEST CHIEF OF CALAPE, BOHOL
From the mountains of Benguet to the coastal town of Calape in Bohol, Police Lieutenant (PLT) Brett Dales Bantiyan Maslang is making a name for himself as one of the youngest police leaders in the country.
PLT Maslang now serves as the youngest Chief of Police of Calape, Bohol, an achievement that has brought pride not only to his family but also to fellow Cordillerans.
Born and raised in Philex Mines, Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet, the young police officer grew up deeply connected to his Igorot roots. His father is from Barlig, Mountain Province, while his mother comes from Lagawe, Ifugao. Raised with values of discipline, respect, and resilience, he carried these principles with him as he pursued a career in public service.
PLT Maslang is a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy and a proud member of PNP MASIDTALAK Class of 2023. Despite being new in the service, he has already begun gaining recognition for his leadership and compassionate approach as a police officer.
Recently, PLT Maslang earned praise after showing kindness to a 78-year-old driver involved in a minor accident with a police patrol vehicle in Bohol.
According to reports, the elderly driver accidentally hit the rear portion of the Calape police patrol car while the police team was traveling to Tagbilaran City. Worried about the incident, the old man reportedly insisted on giving his own money to pay for the damages.
However, instead of accepting the payment, PLT Maslang chose understanding over punishment.
The young police chief refused to take the elderly driverโs money and instead ensured that he was safe and properly assisted. The Calape Police Station later took responsibility for the repair of the patrol vehicle.
In addition, the police officers extended help to the elderly man by providing cash assistance, rice, canned goods, and even a free ride back to his home.
The act of compassion touched many people online and became a reflection of the kind of leadership PLT Maslang represents firm in duty, yet grounded in humanity.
As one of the rising young leaders in the Philippine National Police, PLT Brett Dales Bantiyan Maslang continues to inspire many Cordillerans, proving that success rooted in humility and compassion can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
