The NEGROS ORGANIC AGRICULTURE MOVEMENT or NOAM - a SEC. registered non - government organization held its annual general membership meeting last March 25, 2026 at RPM Bldg. Circumferential Rd. Bacolod City.

The meeting was attended by its officers and members mostly organic agriculture practitioners and advocates. NOAM revival was inspired in honor of the passing of it’s President Renato (Kid) Banas Jr. whose diligent and fiery passion for people’s development work has persistently put NOAM existence amidst the very challenging socio -economic and political and cultural situation in the province of Negros Occidental .

One also of the reasons for its revival was the deliberate effort to circumvent the so - called Anti GMO ORDINANCE , a law that formed part of the basic foundation of the province organic agriculture program. NOAM sees the need to preserve and defend such gains and are very much willing to work with like minded organizations in that pursuit.

The day - long membership meeting was graced by Ms. Welsei Deimos - focal person of NIR -Organic Agriculture Program who presented the region core programs and services. Also, the person in charge of the Organic Agriculture Section of the Office of Provincial Agruculturist or OPA Mr. Julito Manlangit Jr. provide the group updates and amendments on the national law on Organic Agriculture. The Honorable Bacolod City Councilor and head of the Committee on Agriculture, Thaddeus Sayson inspired the group of his wisdom and experience in organic agriculture and express his willingness to help and work with the group in the future.

NOAM has also reaffirmed its VMGS and constitution and by-laws, elected its officers as part of its effort to consolidate and prepare the organization for more future undertakings. Elected as President was Gualberto Dajao , Phd , DPA. and he was joined by MR. Roy Mahinay . Chairman of DAMMMBA or Damayan ng Manggagawa, Magsasaka at Mangingisda sa Bansa. a national federation of various sectors struggling for a common cause of socio- economic emancipation as Vice President.

NOAM officers and members with renewed passion are looking forward of working with national and local government agencies, and like minded organizations in pursuit of advancing the gains of organic agriculture through the empowerment of communities especially the rural producers and consumers of organic goods and products.
