Living the Gospel Through a Fruitful Heart | 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Philippine Coast Guard Academy Interfaith Chaplain Service gathered the Catholic community for the celebration of the Holy Eucharistic Mass in observance of the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, held yesterday at the Philippine Coast Guard Academy and PSALM Chapel. The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Rev Fr LT Kim C Margallo PCG, Officer-in-Charge of the PCG Academy Interfaith Chaplain Service.

The Holy Masses were attended by personnel from the PSALM and Academy’s Training Directorates, and trainees, who came together in prayer and thanksgiving.

In his homily, Fr. Kim reflected that our hearts can resemble different kinds of soil. Some seeds fall along the path and are easily taken away because we become distracted by worldly concerns. Others fall on rocky ground, where faith begins with enthusiasm but quickly fades when trials arise. Some are planted among thorns, where worries, ambitions, and temptations choke the growth of God’s Word. Yet when the seed falls on rich and fertile soil, it takes root, flourishes, and bears abundant fruit.

As members of the Philippine Coast Guard Academy, may we strive to become that fertile soil by nurturing discipline, humility, integrity, and steadfast faith. Let us allow God’s Word to transform our lives so that, through our service, leadership, and daily actions, we may bear fruits of compassion, justice, and selfless dedication to God, our country, and the Filipino people.

The activity forms part of the spiritual development initiatives of Vice Admiral Tito Alvin G Andal PCG, Commander, Coast Guard Education, Training and Doctrine Command, and Commodore Paolo Z Abejuela PCG, Superintendent, PCG Academy. In line with its commitment to holistic character formation, the PCG Academy Interfaith Chaplain Service, headed by Rev Fr Lt Kim C Margallo PCG, through the Islamic Affairs Council, facilitated the observance of Yaumul Jumu’ah on Friday, 10 July 2026, at the Philippine Coast Guard Academy.

The Muslim members of CGOC Class 31-2025 Bravo “SIMLAYAG” solemnly assembled for the Friday congregational prayer, reaffirming their faith, strengthening their spiritual discipline, and seeking Allah’s guidance as they continue their rigorous training toward becoming future Coast Guard officers.

This religious observance forms part of the spiritual development program of Vice Admiral Tito Alvin G Andal PCG, Commander, Coast Guard Education, Training and Doctrine Command, under the leadership of Commodore Paolo Z Abejuela PCG, Superintendent, PCG Academy. The Academy remains steadfast in cultivating God-centered, morally upright, and mission-ready leaders whose character is anchored on integrity, discipline, and selfless service.

As the Academy continues to develop competent and values-driven Coast Guardians, may the blessings of Yaumul Jumu’ah inspire steadfast faith, strengthen unity among the faithful, and reinforce the resolve to uphold honor, duty, and service to the nation.

PCG ACADEMY INTERFAITH CHAPLAIN SERVICE-CATHOLIC MINISTRY CELEBRATES THE 14TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

The Philippine Coast Guard Academy, under the leadership of Commodore Paolo Z. Abejuela PCG, together with the PCG Academy Interfaith Chaplain Service-Catholic Ministry, gathered in prayer and thanksgiving as training directorates, personnel, and trainees participated in the Holy Mass for the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time at Area C, Philippine Coast Guard Academy and PSALM Chapel today, 05 July 2026.

The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by PCG Academy Interfaith Chaplain Service Officer-in-Charge, Rev Fr Lt Kim C Margallo PCG, who reminded the faithful that every calling to serve God and the nation demands humility, perseverance, and unwavering trust in the Lord.

Reflecting on today’s Gospel (Luke 10:1–12, 17–20), Fr. Margallo emphasized that hardship is not a sign that God has abandoned us—it is often the path through which He prepares us for greater success. Trials strengthen character, cultivate resilience, and deepen faith. True success is not measured by rank, recognition, or achievements alone, but by remaining faithful to God’s mission, serving others selflessly, and persevering through every difficulty with hope and trust in His divine providence.

As one Academy united in faith and service, may today’s celebration inspire every member of the Philippine Coast Guard Academy to continue walking with Christ, embracing every challenge with steadfast faith, and becoming instruments of His peace, love, and hope wherever duty may call.

The The Philippine Coast Guard Academy - Interfaith Chaplain Service extends its warmest greetings and sincere solidarity to our Muslim brothers and sisters as we welcome the blessed days of Muharram and the observance of Ashura.

May these sacred days remind us of the virtues and rewards of fasting, strengthen our faith, inspire acts of kindness and compassion, and draw us closer to Allah’s mercy and guidance.

The fasting of Ashura serves as a means of forgiveness for the sins of the previous year, reflecting Allah’s boundless mercy and love for those who sincerely seek Him.

As we commemorate this significant occasion, may it bring peace, spiritual renewal, and unity among our Muslim brothers and sisters, their families, and our entire community.
