Ngayong araw, muling nasa lansangan ang libu-libo nating mga kababayan upang manindigan laban sa korapsyon. Ang panawagan: hustisya at panagutin ang mga nagnakaw sa kaban ng bayan gamit ang mga flood control at infrastructure projects.

Walang puwang sa isang matinong lipunan ang mga magnanakaw. Nararapat lamang na makulong ang mga salarin at maibalik sa taumbayan ang bilyon-bilyong pisong ninakaw. Ang pagkakataong ito ay isang paalala din sa bawat isa sa atin: huwag na nating iboto ang mga tiwali at walang malasakit na pulitiko.

Sa araw na ito, ang Kaya Natin! Movement ay buong-pusong nakikiisa sa bawat Pilipinong galit sa korapsyon. Kasama ninyo kaming naninindigan para sa isang bansang may mabuting pamamahala, kung saan ang katapatan at paglilingkod nang may pananagutan ang namamayani.

Magkaisa tayo, hindi para sa isang indibidwal, kundi para sa prinsipyo ng mabuting pamamahala. Magkaisa tayo para sa isang Pilipinas na malaya mula sa mga korap at tunay na maipagmamalaki ng lahat.

UNITY STATEMENT: Youth Against Kurakot (YAK!) Coalition✊🏼

Akbayan Youth joins coalition of over 150 student councils, youth organizations, faith-based groups, and Sangguniang Kabataan officials in signing the Youth Against Kurakot (YAK!) Coalition’s Unity Statement, an urgent call to expose corruption and reclaim the future from a system that continues to rob Filipinos of dignity, rights, and hope.

We take on the challenge of moral leaders like Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, who urged the youth to "make corruption shameful again." In heeding this call, we refuse to be a haunted generation, paralyzed by the failures of the past, we march our way forward.

Corruption is not just about stolen funds. It is about stolen futures, students dropping out because classrooms were never built, and families flooded because flood control systems were siphoned by greed. These are not ghost stories; they are real consequences of a system that rewards plunder and evades accountability. The culture of denial must end. The cycle of abuse must be broken.

In this spirit, Akbayan Youth, together with the YAK! Coalition, calls on fellow youth, students, student councils, Sangguniang Kabataan officials, and communities of conscience to join the Trillion Peso March: Araw ng Dalangin at Pananagutan, on Sunday, September 21, 2025, 2:00 PM at the People Power Monument. This mobilization is a show of faith and outrage, a national day of prayer and accountability. We gather not just to protest, but to affirm a vision of governance that serves the people, not drowns them in neglect and stolen futures.

We stand for truth, for justice, and for the future that is rightfully ours. We stand to say: corruption is not the norm, it is shameful.

Tinatawag na tayo ng EDSA. Panagutin ang mga kurakot.

PRESS RELEASE | Youth Leaders from Kaya Natin! Youth File Supreme Court Petition vs BSK Term Extension, Election Postponement Law

Manila, Philippines — Youth leaders from Kaya Natin! Youth (KNY), joined by current and aspiring Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, filed a petition before the Supreme Court today, August 22, 2025, to stop the implementation of RA 12232 that extends the term of Barangay and SK (BSK) Officials and reschedules the BSK elections to 2026.

The petitioners filed a Petition for Certiorari and Urgent Motion for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and/or Writ of Preliminary Mandatory Injunction arguing that certain provisions of RA 12232 which postpones the BSK polls to 2026 are unconstitutional, deceptive, and a direct assault on the youth’s right to suffrage.

The petitioners, filing on behalf of the youth, warned that the law disenfranchises the next generation of young voters—with many losing their right to vote for their youth representatives in the SK. They also assert that many young leaders will also lose their opportunity to run for public office by aging out of the SK bracket.

“Dahil sa batas na ito, marami sa aming mga kabataan ay mawawalan ng aming sagradong karapatan na bumoto at pumili ng aming representante sa SK.” said LA Tolentino, KNY Campaigns OIC

They stressed that the law is deceptive—being an unconstitutional postponement of the BSK polls under the veil of a term extension. The Supreme Court already struck down a similar move in Macalintal v. COMELEC (2023).

“Bilang isang kasalukuyang Sangguniang Kabataan official, hindi namin dapat kalimutan that the power we hold belongs to the people.” said Luis Magat, KNY Council Member and current SK Official

They urged the Supreme Court to act immediately:

“Tumitindig kami sa petisyong ito to assert and defend the constitution at para protektahan ang demokratikong karapatan ng mga kabataan na maghalal at mahalal.”
