An anonymous donation of PhP11,000 to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Medical Foundation was coursed through CharityPhilippines.org (CPO), the first charitable crowdfunding platform in the Philippines. CPO program officer Nancy Sandoval personally delivered the donation, which was received by Gloria Rio on behalf of the Foundation.

The PGH Medical Foundation provides medical assistance to the poorest PGH patients, helping them afford essential medicines, laboratory tests, and supplies needed for their treatment and hospital stay. Annually, PGH caters to over 600,000 patients, 98% of whom are indigent.

CharityPhilippines.org recently received a certificate of appreciation from Angat Basa Center – Marinduque, Angat Pinas, Inc., and The Street Classroom for its support for the literacy program held in the island province of Marinduque in 2024.

Learning poverty in the Philippines was pegged by the World Bank in 2022 at 91%—meaning around nine out of ten children aged 10 struggle to read simple text. This highlights the urgent need for programs that improve literacy and provide access to quality education for underserved communities.
