Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod joins eight other PANGGAS member schools in strengthening this commitment as the Diocese of Bacolod formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement on environmental stewardship on September 30 at the Bishop’s House.
The partnership, led by Most Rev. Louie P. Galbines, D.D., Bishop of Bacolod, brings together schools in a shared effort to promote environmental education, community engagement, and ecological responsibility among students and the communities they serve.
Through PANGGAS, the Diocese seeks to build a collaborative network where schools can move beyond environmental awareness toward concrete and sustained action for the protection of the environment.
For CSAB, the partnership provides another avenue to translate the values of Augustinian education into action—forming learners who not only understand their responsibility toward creation but also participate in building more sustainable and caring communities.
Rooted in the Church’s continuing call to care for our common home, particularly through Laudato Si and Laudate Deum, the initiative emphasizes that ecological stewardship is both an environmental and a pastoral responsibility.
The partnership also reflects the spirit of synodality—walking and working together with schools, communities, and other sectors in responding to concerns that affect everyone.
The commitment was given a concrete expression earlier that day when the Diocese, in partnership with the City Government of Bago, conducted a ceremonial mangrove planting at Barangay Sampinit, Bago City.
From the signing of a shared commitment to the planting of mangroves, the message is clear: caring for creation must move from words to action.
As one of the PANGGAS partner schools, CSAB joins the Diocese of Bacolod and its fellow educational institutions in nurturing a culture where environmental stewardship becomes part of learning, community engagement, and everyday life.
