BUILDING CAPACITY, STRENGTHENING EXTENSION

Capability Building & Strategic Extension Planning 2026

VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. actively participates in the two-day Capability Building & Strategic Extension Planning on August 19–20, 2026, held at the ST AVR of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU).

This meaningful initiative is initiated by the Extension Manager’s Council – Negros Island Region (EMC-NIR), in partnership with the Philippine Knowledge and Extension Foundation, Inc. (PHILKOFA) and co-hosted by Negros Oriental State University (NORSU).

The activity brings together representatives from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), and Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) across the Negros Island Region, providing a valuable platform for learning, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic planning.

Representing VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. are Mr. Chester John C. Ferrer, CED Director, and Ms. Alyssa C. Paulma, CED Assistant, who actively participate in this capacity-building activity focused on strengthening extension planning, community engagement, and sustainable extension programs.

Through this initiative, participating institutions gain valuable insights and innovative approaches in developing responsive, inclusive, and impactful extension programs that address the needs and priorities of communities.

More than a capacity-building activity, this gathering strengthens institutional partnerships and regional collaboration, fostering a shared commitment toward more relevant, sustainable, and meaningful community extension services.

𝗔𝗨𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝟵 is observed annually as the 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗’𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗣𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗦. The date commemorates the first meeting of the 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗣 𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦, held in Geneva on August 9, 1982.

On 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟮𝟯, 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟰, the United Nations General Assembly adopted 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝟰𝟵/𝟮𝟭𝟰, deciding that August 9 would be observed annually as the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

As a continuing intervention connected to 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗦 (Livelihood Enhancement and Net Sustainability), an Entrepreneurial Seminar was conducted featuring Ms. Jenny E. Pavillar on Business Documentation and Financial Reporting and Ms. Krishelle Anne S. Arcolas, MBA, on Business Concept and Management System of an Association. The seminar strengthened participants’ knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship, financial management, documentation, and organizational management to help sustain their community-based livelihood initiatives. VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. also presented a 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 for qualified Indigenous Peoples students of VMA, supporting greater access to education and skills development.

The dialogue further strengthened partnerships among the community, academe, government, and public officials. The 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮, led by 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗠. 𝗥𝗼𝗷𝗮𝘀, provided financial assistance for the establishment of an 𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲, which was already granted and formally turned over to the IP beneficiaries through VMA Global College. The initiative aims to provide a community-based platform for promoting and marketing Indigenous products and livelihood outputs. VMA Global College likewise provided an update regarding the requested 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗕𝗣𝗣) 𝗡𝗖 𝗜𝗜 training/certification through TESDA, with continuing coordination and support from the 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴. 𝗝𝗮𝘃𝗶 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘇. These initiatives build upon the gains of 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗦 and strengthen the connection between education, technical skills, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood development. Through 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗯𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁, KAPAWA continues to embody the spirit of “𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿” by creating opportunities, strengthening partnerships, honoring Indigenous culture, and transforming community dialogue into meaningful and sustainable action. 💙💚💛

This month, 𝐕𝐌𝐀 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐈𝐧𝐜. joins the celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day and ASEAN Month 2026 through meaningful activities that promote 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, and 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community.
