The EarthGuard Organization proudly joined the Ceremonial Mangrove Planting held at Purok Calubay, Brgy. Sampinit, Bago City on September 30, 2026, organized through the PANGGAS Tree Growing Project of the Diocese of Bacolod, in partnership with Caritas Bacolod Social Action Foundation, Inc., the City Government of Bago, and PANGGAS-member schools.

This meaningful activity brought together the Church, schools, local government, and the community in one shared effort, to protect our coastal environment, restore mangrove ecosystems, and encourage the next generation to become responsible stewards of nature.

Mangroves play an important role in protecting coastal communities from erosion and strong waves, providing habitats for marine life, and helping maintain healthy coastal ecosystems. Through planting and caring for mangroves, we are taking a simple but meaningful step toward building a cleaner, greener, and more resilient future.

On September 19, 2026, the EarthGuard Organization (EGO) proudly joined hundreds of volunteers, organizations, schools, government agencies, and community groups in the International Coastal Cleanup 2026 at Purok Nami-Nami Seawall, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.

Anchored on this year’s theme, “Clean Seas for Resilient Communities,” the activity brought together 619 participants who shared one common goal, to protect our seas, preserve our environment, and build stronger and more resilient communities. Together with the environmental advocates and assigned clearing teams, we successfully collected a total of 3,214.74 kilograms of solid waste from the designated coastal zone.

As EarthGuardians, we believe that protecting our environment starts with collective action. Every piece of waste removed from our shores is a step toward cleaner oceans, healthier communities, and a more sustainable future.

The International Coastal Cleanup reminds us that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. It does not belong to one organization, one government office, or one community, it belongs to all of us. Our everyday choices, no matter how simple, can contribute to either the protection or degradation of our environment.

Let this activity inspire us to continue beyond September 19. Let us make proper waste disposal a habit, minimize our use of unnecessary plastics, keep our surroundings clean, protect our waterways, and encourage others to participate in environmental initiatives.

The EarthGuard Organization (EGO) proudly joins the International Coastal Cleanup this September 19, 2026 (Saturday) at Barangay Punta Taytay and Barangay Banago, standing together with communities and environmental advocates in protecting our oceans and coastal ecosystems.

🌊 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥?
Our oceans and coastal areas provide food, livelihood, recreation, and shelter for countless people and marine species. However, plastic pollution, improper waste disposal, and other human activities continue to threaten these valuable ecosystems.

Coastal cleanup is not only about collecting trash, it is about raising awareness, taking responsibility for our waste, and inspiring people to protect the environment. Every piece of litter we remove is one less threat to marine life and our coastal communities.

The EarthGuard Organization (EGO) proudly joins the global celebration of World Ozone Day 2026, observed every September 16, with a shared commitment to protecting our planet and preserving the ozone layer.

What protects life on Earth from the sun’s harsh rays? The ozone layer is our invisible shield against harmful ultraviolet radiation that threatens human health, agriculture, and ecosystems.

Thanks to the Montreal Protocol and Kigali Amendment, countries have phased out most ozone-depleting substances like chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs). Because of this global action, the ozone layer is now on its way to recovery, proof that science and cooperation can heal our planet.

The ozone layer acts as our planet’s natural shield, protecting life from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Preserving it requires not only international cooperation but also individual and community action. Every responsible choice we make can contribute to a healthier atmosphere and a safer future.

🌿 What can we do to help preserve the ozone layer?
♻️ Use ozone-friendly products and choose products that do not contain ozone-depleting substances.
❄️ Maintain air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment properly to prevent the release of harmful refrigerants.
🌱 Plant and protect trees and other vegetation to support a healthier environment and help address climate change.
⚡ Conserve energy by switching off lights and appliances when not in use.
🚲 Choose sustainable transportation such as walking, cycling, carpooling, or public transportation whenever possible.
🗑️ Practice proper waste management and reduce unnecessary consumption.
📢 Spread environmental awareness and encourage others to make climate- and ozone-friendly choices.

This World Ozone Day, let’s continue the effort: choose ozone-friendly products, maintain appliances responsibly, conserve energy, and reduce emissions. Every action helps protect the ozone and the life it safeguards.

The EarthGuard Organization (EGO) of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod (JBLCF-Bacolod) actively participated in the Tree-Planting Activity held on September 4, 2026, at Gawahon Eco Park, Victorias City, in collaboration with the City of Victorias.

Together with the CVDP Cadets, 824th Naval ROTC Unit, The Trident, SMART (Research Organization), and EGO members joined hands in planting trees and promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and responsible citizenship.

The activity was facilitated by 2/M Edgar Lemoncito, Jr., Mr. Jun C. Montano, and Mrs. Amabel Subong, whose guidance and support helped make the activity meaningful and successful.

The EarthGuard Organization extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Sylvino V. Tupas, PhD, Mayor Abelardo D. Bantug III, and the Victorias City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (VCENRO) for their valuable support and partnership in making this environmental initiative possible.

Beyond planting trees, the activity served as a reminder that environmental protection begins with collective action. Through initiatives like this, EGO continues to encourage students to become responsible stewards of nature and active partners in building a greener and more sustainable community.

As EarthGuardians, we encourage everyone to take simple but meaningful actions, dispose of waste properly, reduce and recycle, avoid single-use plastics, keep our surroundings clean, and protect our environment for future generations.

The EarthGuard Organization (EGO) successfully conducted its General Meeting on August 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the JBLCF-B Activity Center, initiated and led by our President, John Michael Pelenio with the guidance of Mrs. Amabel Subong, EGO Adviser.

The meeting served as an important opportunity for EGO members to discuss organizational plans, upcoming environmental activities, accreditation, projects, and other initiatives that will strengthen our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation–Bacolod continues to promote responsible citizenship, environmental consciousness, and holistic student development through two meaningful activities designed for different year levels.

PAGPADAYON 2026 – Community Service | First-Year Students

As part of PAGPADAYON 2026, the first-year students took part in a Community Service activity on August 7, 2026, that encouraged them to actively engage with the community and put the values of service, teamwork, cooperation, and social responsibility into practice.

The experience served as an opportunity for students to recognize that becoming future maritime professionals involves more than academic and technical preparation. It also means developing a genuine sense of responsibility toward the people and communities they will eventually serve.

🌎Environmental Awareness Seminar | Second-Year Students

Meanwhile, the second-year students participated in an environmental awareness seminar on August 7, 2026, titled:

“TOWARDS A CLEANER TOMORROW: BEST PRACTICES IN SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT FOR FUTURE LEADERS”

The seminar featured Mrs. Amabel Subong, Adviser of EGO (EarthGuard Organization), who shared valuable knowledge and practical insights on proper solid waste management. The discussion emphasized the importance of responsible waste disposal, waste reduction, segregation, recycling, and sustainable practices in protecting communities and the environment.

The activity encouraged students to recognize that environmental protection begins with everyday decisions and that future leaders have an important role in influencing others toward more sustainable practices.
