The Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) officially launched its 44th season with a grand opening ceremony on October 4, 2024 at Colegio San Agustin - Bacolod (CSA-B) Gym. Themed โGreater Vigor at 44โ, the event celebrated the association's ongoing commitment to unity, excellence, and diversity in sports, culture, and education.
The ceremony began with a processional followed by the invocation led by the CSA-B Kalinaw Chorale, setting a solemn tone for the festivities. In his welcome remarks, Rev. Fr. Jose Rene Delariarte, OSA, CSA-B President, emphasized the importance of community in shaping the values of the youth. This sentiment was echoed by Dr. Juan Antonio Z. Villaluz, NOPSSCEA President, who officially declared the opening of the season. โThis season, we continue to embody the spirit of NOPSSCEA: bringing together schools and students to excel in their chosen fields with vigor, passion, and camaraderie,โ Dr. Villaluz said.
Highlights of the event included performances from the Kagayon Dance Troupe and award-winning vocal and dance groups from various schools in the province. The vocal and dance champions, including Bacolod Tay Tung High School and STI-West Negros University, enthralled the audience with their talent and energy.
A key moment of the ceremony was the raising of the NOPSSCEA banner, led by Dr. Villaluz alongside members of the Board of Trustees. Rosevian Amendralejo of Bacolod Tay Tung High School, representing the MVP Volleyball Girls from the Palarong Pambansa, led the Oath of Sportsmanship, reinforcing the values of fairness and respect among the athletes.
The ceremony concluded with the lighting of the ceremonial urn by Elijah Zedric Ballesteros from the University of St. La Salle, symbolizing the official start of the competitions. The NOPSSCEA hymn, performed by the Kalinaw CSA-B Chorale, added a touching finale to the opening event.
