The 𝗝𝗕𝗟𝗖𝗙-𝗕 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 (𝗖𝗥𝗖𝗬) demonstrated commendable service and preparedness through their active deployment during the National Maritime Aptitude Test (𝗡𝗮𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗧) held on March 28, 2026 at JBLCF-B campus. Volunteers were strategically assigned across key areas to ensure safety, provide first aid, and assist participants throughout the event. Equipped with proper training and a strong sense of humanitarian duty, the CRCY and SPRCY members efficiently responded to minor medical concerns and promoted health awareness among attendees. Their visible presence not only enhanced the overall safety of the activity but also reflected their commitment to serving the community in times of need.

This deployment strongly aligns with one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), particularly Goal 3: 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨. By offering immediate medical assistance and promoting preventive care, the CRCY and SPRCY contributed to ensuring healthy lives and supporting well-being for all participants. Earlier today, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, an incident occurred at 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐁. 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧–𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 during a volleyball game, resulting in an ankle sprain sustained by a 19-year-old female student. The 𝙅𝘽𝙇𝘾𝙁-𝘽 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙍𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 (𝘾𝙍𝘾𝙔) responded to the situation and provided immediate medical assistance. Upon assessment, the main concern was identified as an ankle sprain, and proper first aid was given on site, including the application of ice, elevation of the affected area, and the use of an elastic bandage to help reduce swelling and prevent further injury. The quick and organized response of the CRCY ensured that the patient received timely care and attention, reflecting their readiness and commitment to campus safety.

This act of volunteerism reflects the spirit of 𝘜𝘕𝘚𝘋𝘎 3: 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘉𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨. By providing immediate medical assistance and promoting health and safety within the school community, the CRCY contributes to ensuring healthy lives and supporting the well-being of all, especially in emergency situations where fast action can make a meaningful difference.

The John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod extended their compassion and solidarity to the victims of Bagyong Tino at RSB, La Carlota last November 13, 2025. As one JBLCF-B family, the *College of Red Cross Youth (CRCY)*, together with the *Supreme Student Government (SSG)* and *Community Extension Student Organization (CESO)* participated in the said relief operation, providing much-needed aid to victims of Bagyong Tino. This initiative showcases the organization's commitment to community service and humanitarian efforts.

The CRCY volunteers worked tirelessly to distribute relief supplies, demonstrating their dedication to helping those affected by the typhoon. Their efforts brought hope and comfort to the victims, highlighting the importance of community involvement in disaster response.

This activity aligns with two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs): _No Poverty (SDG 1)_ and _Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)_. By providing relief supplies, the CRCY helped alleviate poverty and ensured access to basic necessities, promoting overall well-being.

Before a typhoon hits, it’s essential to take several safety precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your property. First, stay informed by monitoring weather updates through radio, TV, or mobile apps. Pay close attention to the storm's trajectory and estimated time of arrival. Setting up weather alerts on your phone can also ensure you receive real-time notifications. It’s important to prepare emergency supplies, such as enough water and non-perishable food for at least three days, along with medications, first aid supplies, and basic hygiene items. Additionally, make sure to stock up on batteries, flashlights, and a portable power bank to keep essential electronics charged. Having cash on hand is also crucial, as ATMs may not be accessible if the power goes out.

Securing your home is vital in the lead-up to the storm. Close and lock all windows and doors, and reinforce them if possible. Bring in or securely anchor outdoor furniture and objects that could become dangerous projectiles. Ensure that gutters are clear to prevent flooding and check for any roof damage that could worsen in high winds. In flood-prone areas, use sandbags around doors and windows to keep water out. If possible, seal gaps around doors and windows with towels or rags to prevent rain from entering.

For family and pet safety, make sure everyone has a communication plan in case you get separated, and establish a meeting point. Know your nearest evacuation routes and shelter locations. Bring pets indoors and ensure they have everything they need, including food and water. It’s also important to prepare for power outages by charging devices, having ice on hand to keep food cold, and ensuring your generator is ready to go, positioned safely outside to avoid carbon monoxide risks.

Once the storm begins, stay indoors and away from windows and glass doors to avoid injury from shattered glass. Avoid using landline phones during a storm, as lightning can cause electric surges. Only go outside when authorities confirm it’s safe. If evacuation is necessary, listen to local authorities and follow orders immediately. Pack a small bag with essentials such as identification, insurance papers, and other important documents. Lastly, review your insurance coverage to ensure your home and car are adequately protected against storm or flood damage. Taking these precautions will help minimize the risks and keep you safe during a typhoon.

All response teams are closely monitoring the situation, ready to provide first aid, welfare services, rescue operations, and emergency assistance to affected communities.

The John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation–Bacolod’s College Red Cross Youth (CRCY) officially wrapped up its successful deployment during the Intramural 2025 on Friday, October 17, 2025. For three consecutive days, CRCY volunteers provided essential assistance and maintained a secure environment for all Lacsonians, ensuring that every activity was carried out smoothly and safely.

Throughout the day, volunteers were strategically assigned across campus to cover a variety of events. A team was stationed at the covered court to extend immediate aid during the battle of the bands and other performances, while other groups were deployed to key sports areas including the MLA building (volleyball, basketball, tug-of-war), the BD building (Sepak Takraw), the field/oval (football, athletics, frisbee), the PEA building (billiards), and the HM Pool (swimming). Their active presence ensured that medical needs were promptly addressed and that all activities proceeded without major incidents.

The three-day deployment of JBLCF-Bacolod CRCY during Intramural 2025 stands as a testament to their dedication to service and community welfare. Their commitment to upholding the safety and well-being of students, athletes, and spectators alike significantly contributed to the overall success of the event.

This act of volunteerism reflects the spirit of UNSDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting a safe and healthy environment for all participants, and UNSDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration among student organizations, campus offices, and the wider school community to achieve shared goals.
