Every meal represents a journey from the soil and sea to your table. Yet, one-fifth of food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted globally (World Food Programme, 2024). This reality shows that so much of the hard work never gets eaten—every wasted food is a missed opportunity to nourish a life.

Today, we are joining the "Stop Food Waste" campaign, reminding everyone to respect food and honor the labor of our farmers and fisherfolk. Let us stop viewing ingredients as disposable waste and instead embrace intentionality with every dish we prepare. By planning, preparing, and preserving ahead, we make sure that we are making the most of the resources that sustain us.

True power isn't just generated; it’s shared. ⚡️🌍

This Earth Day, we’re celebrating how renewable energy fuels real change—from lighting homes and classrooms through Project SULO to protecting the biodiversity of Danjugan Island. Whether it’s at the Pahauli Center or in your own backyard, sustainable energy helps us protect what matters most.

When people are supported, real change becomes something we build together. 🤝

👉 Your Turn: How are you powering your community today?

💙 “I come from a 30 year old organization that started with a simple mission: protect nature first.

🪸 Before we had a business model, we were focused on conserving coastal ecosystems, coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass, and wildlife because we knew how critical they are to both biodiversity and communities.

🏝️ But we also learned a hard truth that conservation alone is not always financially sustainable.

🏖️ Over time, we harnessed ecotourism as a way to fund protection. So tourism became a tool to sustain conservation and to support the communities who are its stewards.”

“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” 📖✨

A new chapter begins.

On April 7, 2026, we proudly opened the doors to the new community library at Bulata Elementary School—a space built by the community, for the community.

This learning hub started as a vision from Ms. Rhoda Phillips of the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Inc. (PRRCFI) and Communities for Nature (CfN). Driven by her commitment to education, she mobilized support to transform an old, unused building into something full of life and possibility. Together with the Project ACE team and local community members, we turned that vision into reality.

Today, the space stands as a vibrant library—filled with diverse books, equipped with a projector for interactive learning, and designed with child-friendly spaces that invite curiosity and creativity.

We were honored to celebrate this milestone with partners and friends, including representatives from LMAX Group, the Municipality of Cauayan, PRRCFI trustees, Barangay Bulata leadership, and DepEd and school officials. Their presence reflects what’s possible when we work toward a shared goal: empowering young minds.

By opening doors to knowledge, we help the children of Bulata dream bigger, explore further, and shape their own futures.

Today, on International Zero Waste Day, we’re celebrating the power of small, consistent actions, and the communities turning them into lasting change.

In Bulata National High School in Negros Occidental, waste isn’t just a problem, it’s an opportunity to lead.

Through Project RootED, supported by the Green Spark Fund and with our partner Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation, students, teachers, and canteen vendors are working together to transform their school into a zero-waste, climate-resilient campus.

With over 700 students, the challenge is real: single-use plastics, mixed waste, and limited infrastructure. But what’s more powerful is the response:

🌱 Student leaders trained as RootED Fellows

🌱 A reward system that encourages daily waste segregation

🌱 Vendors shifting to reusable and eco-friendly packaging

🌱 A Materials Recovery Facility and school-wide waste audits

🌱 Zero-waste principles embedded into everyday learning

This isn’t just about cleaner classrooms, it’s about building a culture of accountability, leadership, and environmental stewardship that extends beyond school walls.

Because zero waste isn’t a single action. It’s a system. A mindset. A community effort. And in Bulata, it’s already taking root.

You don’t need to move to the city to find a great job—local hotels and guesthouses are looking for skilled people right now.

This isn't just about cleaning; it’s about mastering skills that keep the hospitality industry running.

Think housekeeping is "just for women"? Think again. We strongly encourage men to apply and bring their energy to the tourism sector.

Delivered through Project ACE in partnership with TESDA and Barangay Bulata.
