„Kompetenzen für eine gemeinsame Zukunft“– lautet das Motto des heutigen Welttages für den Kompetenzerwerb junger Menschen.

Die Vereinten Nationen haben dazu ein paar interessante Zahlen veröffentlicht, u.a. diese:

• 273 Millionen Kinder und Jugendliche gehen nicht zur Schule.
• Weniger als 1 % der armen Frauen in ländlichen Gebieten schließen in vielen Ländern die Sekundarschule ab.
• Eine von fünf Personen im Alter von 15–24 Jahren ist weder erwerbstätig noch in Ausbildung oder Training.

Die Zahlen zeigen, dass es noch viel zu tun gibt, damit alle Kinder und Jugendlichen eine Aus- oder Weiterbildung erhalten. Wir tragen mit unseren Projekten dazu bei, dass es gelingt.

• Auf den Philippinen ist Kinderarbeit ein großes Thema. Gemeinsam mit unserem Partner Quidan Kaisahan setzen wir uns dafür ein, dass die Kinder, statt auf den Zuckerrohrfeldern zu arbeiten wieder zur Schule gehen können. Erwin von den Philippinen musste mit zwölf Jahren die Schule abbrechen, um mit seiner Arbeit die Familie zu unterstützen. Inzwischen besucht er, dank unseres Projektes die siebte Klasse und möchte später Polizist werden.

• 2024 haben wir gemeinsam mit der kenianischen Organisation IMPACT_KENYA ein Ausbildungszentrum aufgebaut – mitten in der Steppe. Die Dorfgemeinschaft half beim Bau mit, sodass er innerhalb von nur sechs Monaten fertig war. Hier hat die junge Kenianerin Samaiyian Legei durch eine Ausbildung eine neue Zukunft für sich geschaffen. Sie entdeckte ihre Leidenschaft für Schönheitspflege, erlernte das Friseurhandwerk und eignete sich zusätzlich wichtige Kenntnisse als Kleinunternehmerin an. Mit Kreativität, Ausdauer und starkem Willen gelang es ihr, eigenes Einkommen zu erwirtschaften und sogar einen Salon zu eröffnen. Dort schafft sie nun selbst Ausbildungsplätze.

“A truly safe school is one where every child knows: I belong here. I am valued here. I am safe here.”

Recent tragedies in Tacloban City, Cavite City, and General Trias involving violence among schoolmates have deeply shaken our communities and reminded us of the urgent need to strengthen child protection in our schools.

No child should ever have to experience fear or violence in a place meant for learning, growth, and hope.

May these tragedies strengthen our collective commitment to uphold children’s rights, protect their well-being, and build schools where every child can learn, dream, and thrive free from violence.

Today, we grieve.
Tomorrow, we continue working toward safer schools, more compassionate communities, and stronger systems that protect every child.

For every child.
For every school.
For every future we are entrusted to protect.

La Carlota City | Training Workshop for Child Rights Network

Every child deserves to grow up safe, protected, and truly heard.

Members of the Child Rights Network gathered for a Training Workshop on the (UNCRC), Child Abuse Prevention, and Child Protection Advocacy. The session provided a meaningful space for learning, sharing experiences, and strengthening a shared commitment to upholding and protecting children’s rights.

With stronger knowledge and practical tools, advocates and partners continue working hand in hand toward communities where children are free from abuse, neglect, and harm.

Protecting children is a shared responsibility, and every step we take today helps build a safer tomorrow for every child.

A teacher who listens. A parent who encourages. A neighbor who cares. A community member who chooses to protect and support children, especially during difficult times.

Every child deserves someone who will stand by them, celebrate their strengths, and remind them that they matter. When children feel safe, heard, and valued, they are more confident to learn, grow, and dream.

Let us continue to be the adults who uplift, protect, and advocate for children. Because every child deserves a champion.

Manapla | Training Workshop for the K*K Youth Alliance on CSAEP, OSAEC, CSAEM 💻📱✨

Young people have an important role in creating safer spaces for children.

Members of the K*K Youth Alliance participated in a two-day Training Workshop focused on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention (CSAEP), Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials (CSAEM). Through interactive learning sessions, participants deepened their understanding of child protection issues, online safety, responsible digital citizenship, and safe reporting mechanisms. They also reflected on how they can support their peers, promote safe online behavior, and contribute to building communities that protect children from abuse and exploitation.

The workshop concluded with action planning and commitment setting, empowering the youth to take an active role in advancing child protection initiatives in their communities.

This activity is part of an ongoing Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention Network (CAPIN) project supported by Consuelo Foundation and implemented by Quidan Kaisahan in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Manapla. 🧡

Moises Padilla | Workshop on Strengthening the Local Council for the Protection of Children 🧡

Every child deserves a childhood filled with learning, play, protection, and hope, not work that robs them of their dreams.

— World Day Against Child Labor. Quidan Kaisahan in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Moises Padilla and with the support of Misereor, brought together members of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) to strengthen local systems that safeguard children's rights and well-being.

Through honest conversations and collective reflection on the realities faced by children, participants worked together to assess current situations, plan responsive programs, revisit the mandates of the LCPC, identify long-term goals, and develop an Organizational Development Plan.

Ending child labor requires more than awareness. It requires communities that listen, leaders who act, and systems that put children at the center of every decision. This workshop was a reminder that protecting children is a shared responsibility, and that lasting change begins when communities come together with a common purpose.

Because every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream. ✨
