NEGROS YOUTH SAYS: JUSTICE FOR RJ LEDESMA

Our beloved writer, activist, friend. The Negrosanon youth mourn the loss of our community member who transformed not just the way we see the world, but how we forge a better one that truly serves the people.

Youth organizations, student publications, and artist groups stand together in collective grief, rage, and solidarity to demand justice for RJ Ledesma. We call for a just and genuine investigation on the massacre that transpired in Toboso. Ultimately, we demand that the roots of poverty, landlessness, and exploitation be eradicated in the most depraved areas of Negros that led RJ and other young activists to its fields and communities.

May the soil of Negros never again be tainted by the blood of its youth. May the lands of Negros return to the calloused hands of the people that take care of it.

YOUTH STATEMENT ON ISRAEL CONSUL VISIT TO NEGROS: PROVINCE, CUT TIES WITH ISRAEL NOW!

On July 30, 2025, Israel Consul Mito Cohen paid a visit to Gov. Eugenio “Bong” Lacson in the Provincial Capitol to supposedly discuss aid for the red-striped soft scale insects (RSSI) infestation in sugarcane fields in the island. An Israeli agricultural expert is set to come to Negros to perform tests and assist in solutions in the coming week.

Although RSSI is an issue that must be dealt with swiftly and efficiently, and with necessary support to affected farmers, ties with Israel amidst its relentless and cruel genocide of Palestinians in Gaza is equivalent to being complicit in the ongoing murder of thousands.

There can never be a moral middle ground when mass graves are full of dead children. Negros must stand firmly with Palestine.

THERE IS NO CLIMATE JUSTICE WITHOUT PALESTINIAN LIBERATION.

According to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 100% of Gaza’s population is at risk of famine.

Israeli forces just intercepted and abducted humanitarian volunteers aboard a ship carrying food and basic necessities for civilians.

We stand in solidarity with Madleen 12 and the Palestinian struggle for freedom against occupation. 🇵🇸✊🏽

In light of this, we invite you and your organization to a community prayer circle commemorating all the lives lost in a year of the genocide in Palestine.

We shall call for enduring peace and liberation for all, for we are not free unless we all are.

“NO ONE IS FREE UNTIL ALL OF US ARE: A Solidarity Discussion for ”

On Araw Ng Kalayaan, Negrosanon youth from various schools, organizations, and student publications came together for a hybrid educational discussion delivered by Atty. Luke Espiritu, president of Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino.

A special message was given by Mahadia Maher of Little Gaza’s Kitchen, and by Hamza Al-Mofattesh, a Jordanian-Palestinian. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Beanucot Cafe for allowing us access to a safe space.

We are heartened and in awe of the show of solidarity and support by the turn-out, that together we are able to make and hold space for grief and rage. May Palestine be free in our lifetime.
