The NU Bacolod School of Arts, Education, and Sciences attended a meaningful Psychological First Aid Workshop facilitated by Ms. Graziela Salvilla, Licensed Guidance Counselor, Certified Field Traumatologist, and Co-Director for Partnership and Membership of Mental Health Negros.

The workshop helped participants gain practical knowledge and skills in providing immediate emotional and psychosocial support during times of crisis, disaster, and distress.

Mental Health Negros values learning opportunities like this as we continue to help build a more responsive, compassionate, and trauma-informed community.

Healing is not only about caring for ourselves, but also about learning how to stop passing our pain onto the people we love.

Help is always available if you feel emotionally overwhelmed, burdened by unresolved pain, or struggling to cope in healthy ways.

Mental health is not a trend. It is a human reality that deserves understanding, compassion, and support. Ignoring it does not make it disappear; it only deepens the silent struggle within people who need to be heard the most.

Seek help if your need for validation is already harming your peace, damaging relationships, or hurting others through manipulation, control, or lack of empathy. Stay grounded in the pain you may be causing others.

With this question in mind, take a moment and reflect.

When truth is avoided, growth is hindered. When behavior is excused, it is repeated. And a cycle of inexcusable behaviors starts to grow.

Stay grounded in truth. Be willing to listen, to be corrected, and to change.

Be someone who understands his own behavior and strives to change for you know its the right thing to do.

Mental Health Negros joined the collaborative effort between the NOCPPO and the Provincial Health Office in conducting Psychosocial Processing in Toboso. This mission aimed to provide much-needed support to the community following the recent critical incident in the area.

The psychosocial processing was led by Ms. RM April T. Alon, one of the directors of Mental Health Negros.

It was during times of crisis that mental health professionals were also needed in the process of healing and recovery.

The Ministry of the Altar Servers, together with some members of the Youth Ministry, participated in a meaningful psycho-social support session facilitated by the Mental Health Negros Associates and the BS Psychology Interns from Carlos Hilado Memorial State University.

Through these simple yet profound activities of MHN, the participants were encouraged to acknowledge their feelings and recognize the importance of emotional awareness.

After the pen-and-paper activity, the participants were grouped into three for a processing session, allowing them to share experiences, listen to one another, and build deeper connections grounded in empathy and understanding.

Indeed, caring for mental and emotional wellness is also a vital part of ministry because even those who serve others need spaces where they, too, are heard, supported, and cared for.
