The week two of school-based encampment with the theme “𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬: 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞, 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬” pushed through on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏-𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐲𝐦.

The Scouts of Green Striders Outfit 080 showed up at the venue despite the gloomy weather and possibility of a sudden camp postponement. Participants came early and presented themselves with high spirits, expectant and enthusiastic about the activities and lectures prepared for them. Similarly, the staff came resolute, ready to take on the demands and challenges to ensure the seamless conduct of camping.

Scouts delved into the lectures and post-lecture activities of the identified merit badges, namely, 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. They were also made to embark on physical exercises so as to induce the realization that knowledge acquisition and skill enhancement are just as important as physical fitness and readiness.

The two-week school-based encampment concluded with a resounding success. Competencies were effectively developed in a short span of time, and objectives were satisfied. More than anything, everyone was able to get home safe and sound. Special thanks to our Outfit Adviser, Assistant Outfit Adviser, staff, senior volunteers and mentors whose contributions and shared vision enabled the smooth ex*****on.

Truly, 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫, not even the unfavorable force of nature, from learning, unlearning, and relearning.

Until the next scouting adventure! Though, we hope that the weather will finally be in our favor next time around. If not, rest assured that the Scouts of Outfit 080 will still stride the green fields with happy smiles plastered on faces, rain or shine.

The Green Striders Outfit 080 embarked on week one of the school-based encampment with the theme “𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬: 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞, 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬” on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟓-𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. The camp was packed with lectures and post-lecture activities so as to ensure not only the acquisition of basic, foundational concepts but also the proper and appropriate application of learnings.

In a span of two days, participants attended lectures on identified merit badges such as 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲, 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐢𝐝, 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠. The same also demonstrated active engagement with and conscious participation in the prepared activities.

Their dedication to learn and perseverance despite the uncomfortable environment in which they were placed were pronounced proofs that they did not merely come to play. They aimed to grow, be pruned, and be refined one scouting lecture at a time.

𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 🤨
𝑨𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒔𝒐 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒅’𝒚𝒂𝒏 😒
𝑴𝒖𝒌𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒅 😨

These claims inevitably come to mind whenever disengaged people hear of scouting. These ideas are true—but only to a certain extent because these do not completely encapsulate the essence of and experience in scouting. Yes, we sit through long hours of lectures that require our full-on concentration and earnestness. Yes, we also endure long-time formations, which are held under the blazing heat most of the time. This does not denote whatsoever that we know not how to have fun and bask in genuine moments of friendship and fellowship.

On the contrary, we actually prepare for and perform during socials—a proof that we actually enjoy a fun yet wholesome get-together. For your benefit, though, keep the expectations low because unlike formations in which we strive to be identified as one, in socials we aim to display our individuality and bring out our uniqueness. In socials, we do 𝟏, 𝟐, 𝟑 𝒈𝒐 𝒌𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒂 𝒌𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒂 𝒏𝒂 😵‍💫. We ain’t performative, we only desire to add a splash of vibrancy to the warmth of night. 🔥
