BAKURAN is a non-stock, nonprofit, non religious, non political or non partisan organization.

The officers and members of this organization are bonafide students of Bacolod City College enrolled in any courses offered to the institution.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏 |𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Today marks the first day of the Housewarming for Freshmen. The theme of the event was Harry Potter, which made the whole event more fun and exciting. All the clubs and organizations joined the Club Fair to welcome the freshmen and encourage them to join different clubs and organizations where they could meet new people, gain new experiences, and discover their interests.

The BAKURAN Club also participated in the event by preparing fun games for the freshmen. However, the games were not only for freshmen because sophomores, juniors, and seniors were also welcome to participate and enjoy the activities. It was a great opportunity for everyone to have fun and interact with one another.

Aside from the games, BAKURAN also prepared a presentation to introduce BAKURAN: Kalikasan Advocates to the freshmen. The presentation focused on the environment and the purpose and advocacy of BAKURAN. It was presented through role-playing with a touch of theater, which made it more creative and entertaining.

Through the presentation, the freshmen were able to learn more about BAKURAN and its goal of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging everyone to take care of and protect our environment.

The count isn't over yet, but Bakuran has officially passed the 5,000 mark! As of right now, over 5,000 seedlings are thriving and growing strong in our nursery.

Every new sprout is proof of what we can build when we work toward a greener future together.

Stories have the power to shape perspectives, but they also carry the responsibility of telling the truth with care and integrity.

On 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻 joined the 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻: 𝗨𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮, 𝗞𝘂𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗵𝗮 session under the KlimaLikha Creative Climate Fellowship 2026, led by lens-based artist and activist 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 (Pagkukuwento at Pagkilos para sa Kalikasan sa pamamagitan ng Maikling Pelikula).

During the session, we explored documentary filmmaking as a process that goes far beyond recording reality. The discussion emphasized ethical storytelling, deep respect for the people behind every story, and the importance of creating films grounded in collaboration, responsibility, and accountability.

More than a technical craft, documentary filmmaking was presented as a vital tool for reflection and social change—challenging us to consider not only how stories are told, but what happens after they are shared.

As the session concluded, we were left with a powerful takeaway: "𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒈𝒂'𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒂𝒈𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒈𝒐 𝒔𝒂 𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒌𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒚𝒂, 𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒌𝒂, 𝒂𝒕 𝒌𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂, 𝒑𝒂𝒖𝒍𝒊𝒕-𝒖𝒍𝒊𝒕 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒈𝒂 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒉𝒐-𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒌𝒖𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒐."

A grounding reminder that meaningful storytelling must always go hand in hand with meaningful action and systemic change.

July 23, 2026

Today, July 23, 2026, marked the last day of BCCianihan: Brigada Eskwela 2026, guided by the theme, "BCCianihan: Pagkakaisa ang Ugat sa Kaunlaran," at Bacolod City College.

The seedling turnover also continued, together with the help of all students. Every department turned in different types of seedlings that will help beautify the campus by adding greenery.

Meanwhile, BAKURAN continued its Trash-to-Cashback Collection, encouraging the school community to practice proper waste segregation and responsible waste management while reducing the amount of recyclable waste that ends up in landfills.

To protect the plants in the nursery, BAKURAN installed a protective net to reduce direct sunlight and to provide a better growing environment for the seedlings.

With Brigada Eskwela 2026 now concluded, the BCC community continues to work together toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus—where green begins with us.

‎The spirit of BCCianihan continues as BAKURAN at Bacolod City College carries on its environmental initiatives through the second day of Brigada Eskwela 2026.
‎
‎Building on the success of Day 1, BAKURAN officers and student volunteers continued the restoration of the BAKURAN Nursery, working together to clean and organize the garden area, prune overgrown trees, arrange and classify the donated fruit-bearing seedlings, and prepare plant markers for proper identification. These collective efforts help create a more organized and sustainable nursery that will serve as a source of seedlings for future environmental activities and greening programs.

‎As part of the BCC Seedlings Drive, the BAKURAN Nursery continues to grow with an increasing collection of fruit-bearing seedlings, showcasing the unity, participation, and dedication of the BCC community in promoting environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
‎
‎The donated fruit-bearing seedlings from fellow BCCians remain at the heart of this initiative. With proper care and nurturing, these seedlings will soon be distributed to support tree-growing efforts and contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more resilient community.
‎
‎To ensure proper organization and identification, BAKURAN members also prepared and installed informative signage for each seedling, making future monitoring and transfer more efficient.
‎
‎With every seedling nurtured, we take another meaningful step toward a greener, healthier, and more resilient future.

‎As part of Brigada Eskwela 2026, BAKURAN at Bacolod City College continues its commitment to environmental sustainability by actively participating in Brigada Eskwela in preparation for the new academic year. Fellow BCCians brought recyclable plastic bottles and fruit-bearing seedlings to support our environmental initiatives, while BAKURAN officers also took part in the restoration of the BAKURAN Nursery. The collected seedlings will be nurtured and donated to help expand green spaces and promote a greener school community.
‎
‎Dr. Bayoneta warmly welcomed the students who joined this year’s Brigada Eskwela. She encouraged everyone to continue working together, emphasizing the importance of unity, cooperation, and collective effort in contributing to the betterment of the school and its community.
‎
‎The CSG President, Alpha Semillano, also shared a message about the Brigada Eskwela activities. she also discussed the collection of seedlings and recycled bottles that students are encouraged to contribute as part of the school’s environmental initiatives.
‎
‎Meanwhile, Dr. Junalyn Libiran, adviser of BAKURAN Advocates, delivered an inspirational message and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the students who participated in BCCianihan. She recognized their time, effort, and dedication in helping improve the school and protect the environment.
‎
‎In partnership with BCC-CSG and BAKURAN, the theme “Pagkakaisa ang Ugat ng Kaunlaran” reminds us that when we stand together, we can make a meaningful difference. Through unity, cooperation, and collective action, we can achieve greater progress and build a better, cleaner, and greener school community.

On July 14, 2026, BAKURAN, alongside our fellow student leaders, gathered at Bacolod City College for the official unboxing of project supplies funded through the Trash-to-Cashback initiative.

This milestone is a testament to what happens when BCCians choose sustainability and active stewardship. Every plastic bottle turned in by our student body was a step toward this achievement, proving that regular recycling can fuel meaningful, tangible change for our campus.

This success is made possible through our valued partnership with Basic Environmental Systems & Technologies, Inc. (BEST), whose incredible support helps us turn waste into valuable resources.

BAKURAN remains dedicated to cultivating a greener, cleaner, and more eco-conscious campus. Let’s keep this momentum going, continue supporting the Trash-to-Cashback program, and show everyone how small habits lead to a massive collective impact.
