As the Panaad sa Negros 2026 kicked off, the BAKURAN officers and members participated in the Youth Bantay Bayan Dialogue on Zero Waste held on April 14, 2026.
The BAKURAN Eco-Warriors, alongside student leaders, journalists, and environmental advocates from various organizations, engaged in a series of meaningful discussions about a zero-waste future.
The event featured three sessions, beginning with a discussion led by Aizel Pabon from the Internal Deputy Navigator of the 3Zero Club Philippine Network on Zero Plastic Waste. The session tackled the environmental impact of plastic pollution and shared practical methods for reducing its use. This was followed by a session on Zero Food Waste, where Genrick Catalonia, a project officer at the NYLI Climate Solutions Center, presented staggering statistics to highlight the critical nature of food waste in society.
The final presentation was delivered by Raesan Perez from the NYLI Climate Solutions Center, who addressed the transition toward sustainable power in a talk titled โZero Energy Waste.โ The session revealed the harsh realities of fossil fuel dependency while offering solutions through clean, renewable energy.
Despite the scorching heat, the event continued and transitioned into a Q&A session. Joining the panel was Ms. Coleen Awit from NYLI, who emphasized the vast potential of solar energy as a sustainable power source. Her insights highlighted the theme of the day: the vital importance of sustainability for a greener future.
