Alvin, I still remember the first time you approached me. You didnโt really know me then, and you could have easily stayed silent or chosen the safer side. But instead, you chose to ask, to listen, and to understand the truth for yourself. You never based your judgment on who was more popular, more influential, or easier to side with. You based it on what you personally witnessed and on what your conscience told you was right. That is something I will always remember, and something I will always be deeply grateful for.
Through everything that followed, I came to respect you even more. You have always tried to stand by what you believe is right, even when it becomes difficult, inconvenient, or costly for you personally. Ang daming intriga, pressure, misunderstandings, and challenges na dumaan, pero hindi mo hinayaan na mabago ng mga iyon kung sino ka.
You could have chosen the easier path. You could have protected your name, your comfort, your opportunities, or simply walked away when things became complicated. But you chose your principles over convenience. And for me, that says so much about your character, your values, and the way your parents raised you.
Hindi lahat ng tao kayang tumayo sa tama kapag wala nang applause, kapag mahirap na, o kapag may kapalit na sakripisyo. Kaya malaki ang respeto ko saโyoโnot because you are perfect, but because you have shown that you are willing to carry the weight of your choices and remain true to what you believe is right.
Alv, on your birthday, wala akong ibang hiling kundi good health, a peaceful heart, and a quiet mind. Sana pagkatapos ng lahat ng ingay at challenges na pinagdaanan mo, life gives you more days filled with peace, genuine people, and reasons to smile without having to explain yourself to anyone.
And of course, I wish you and Thomas a life filled with love, understanding, and happiness. Sana pati iyong mga tahimik na pangarap moโmga bagay na hindi mo laging sinasabi, pero matagal mo nang hinihiling sa puso moโunti-unting matupad.
And always remember this, Alv: you have a home in Bacolod. A place where you are always welcome, where you donโt have to prove anything, and where you will always have people who genuinely care for you. No matter where life takes you, I hope you know that there will always be a door here open for you.
