National Congress of Unions in the Sugar Industry of the Philippines and Paciwu - National Labor Federation National President Roland de la Cruz attended the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE AND FOOD hearing chaired by
Chairperson: Hon. Wilfrido Mark M. Enverga. Also in attendance were Cong. Francisco "Kiko" Benitez, Cong. Dino Yulo and Cong. Joe Zubiri.

The agenda were the proposed House Bills,
HB 835 – Strengthening the sugarcane industry, increasing its annual supplemental budget (Rep. Michael Romero, Ph.D.)

HB 2207 – Amending Section 11 of RA 10659, otherwise known as the Sugarcane Industry Development Act of 2015 (by proportionately allocating expenditures based on productivity and granting the Sugar Regulatory Administration greater oversight and coordinating powers with pertinent government agencies with regard to importation of sugar) (Rep. Manuel Sagarbarria)

The proposed HB aims to increase the budget of SIDA from Php2Billion to Php5Billion and measures to improve the fund utilization that will best address the concerns of the sugar industry especially the support for the farmers and workers.
