The PPS โ€“ Negros Occidental Chapter was founded in 1971 with Dr. Salud Javelosa as its founding President. Back in 1976, PPS members from Panay Island joined the PPS โ€“ Negros Occidental Chapter hence the name was changed to PPS โ€“ Negros Occidental Western Visayas Chapter. In 2016 with the advent of the One Island โ€“ One Region concept, PPS Negros Occidental left the Western Visayas group and formed

the PPS Negros Island Chapter. In 2018 the name PPS Negros Island Chapter was reverted to PPS Negros Occidental Chapter. To date the chapter has 109 members.

The Philippine Pediatric Society - Negros Occidental Chapter proudly joined the Ligtas Tigdas Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (SIA) held on August 10, 2026 at the Silay City Public Plaza Covered Court.

The ๐‹๐ˆ๐†๐“๐€๐’ ๐“๐ˆ๐†๐ƒ๐€๐’ 2026 ๐Œ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ-๐‘๐ฎ๐›๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š ๐’๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐ˆ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ณ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ campaign aims to protect children against Measles (Tigdas) and Rubella through safe, free, and effective vaccination.

Campaign period: August 10-26, 2026
Eligible Children: 6-59 months

We encourage all parents and caregivers to have eligible children vaccinated during the activity.

Thank you for sharing your expertise, evidence-based recommendations, and practical clinical insights that continue to enhance pediatric practice and reinforce our commitment to excellence in child healthcare.

The Philippine Pediatric Societyโ€“Negros Occidental Chapter, through its Committee on Teen Pregnancy, and in partnership with Rotary Club of Bacolod North successfully conducted a community lecture titled โ€œFrom Awareness to Aftercare: Empowering Teens, Supporting Mothers, Protecting Babiesโ€ at Dungganon Youth Hub, Bantayan Park, Bago City.

The activity aimed to strengthen awareness on teenage pregnancy, responsible decision-making, maternal health, and the importance of appropriate support and aftercare for teenage mothers and their babies.

From awareness, we move toward action, support, and aftercare.

PPS-NOC conducted its first community activity in Barangay Mandalagan, marking the beginning of its partnership with the chapterโ€™s newly adopted community. The activity brought together barangay officials, health workers, parents, and caregivers to strengthen collaboration and identify priority child health needs. ๐ŸŒŸ

The interactive lecture on the Child Injury Prevention Program was conducted by the Committee on Accident Prevention, Disaster, Environment Safety, and Assistance. Practical measures to prevent falls, burns, poisoning, choking, drowning, and road-related injuries were discussed, making the activity a meaningful first step toward a safer, healthier, and more child-friendly Barangay Mandalagan. ๐Ÿ’™
