LOOK!
An inception meeting technical assistance has been extended to the Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Lgu Buguey for the conduct of possible R&D activities. Together with Dean Quirino Gumabay Pascua of the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Dr Billy S Javier presented a proposal that aids the LGU Ain the conduct of the Primary Survey and Profiling Extractiin in 30 Barangays of Buguey Cagayan. Benchmarking on a recent ONEAPARRI Project he led, Dr Javier presented the RESIDENTe Project. Participants from key offices or units in the LGU shared their thoughts, issues and concerns towards the proposed project while acknowledging the long-term impact of having a comprehensive database for the LGU.

BDC App Training and Workshop spearheaded by the ONEAPARRI project team commenced in Fuga Islang, Aparri, Cagayan. The BDC App is a component project of the ONEAPARRI program which aims to streamline the data and records management, synchronize data repository and retrieval, centralized and normalized report generation, and interoperates with other component apps - HEROES and ATOP App respectively.
The team led by Dr. Leo P. Paliuanan, together with Dr. Jesty S. Agoto, MSIT student Mr. Gino Carlo Rabina, and the select LGU officials, set foot at Fuga Island on September 25-26, 2024 with the assistance of the LGU Aparri led by Hon. Mayor Bryan Dale G. Chan.

CICS bagged Best Paper Awards in 2025 Campus Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis.

In its 5th consecutive year, CICS has positioned itself as a powerhouse in student research and innovation. True to its commitment to advancing knowledge and technology, teams from CICS in 2 of 3 categories won Best Paper Awards.

Mr. Aedrian Dave Udarbe's team project titled "SDG Monitor: Design and Development of the Sustainable Development Goal Monitoring Dashboard of CSU Aparri" received 1st BEST PAPER in the Technological Category.

Additionally, Ms. Krisha Publico's team research paper titled "Factors and Implications of Computer Laboratory Usage to Academic Performance of Information Technology Students" earned 2nd BEST PAPER in the Social Science Category.

Mr. Ian Raphael Labicani presented his team's project, the SeaWatch App.

The exceptional showcase of research skills and innovative presentations by the students reflects their dedication to excellence in IT research and innovation. Dr. Billy S. Javier mentored the SDG Monitor team, while Dr. Julieta B. Babas guided Ms. Publico's research team.

BDC App Team goes to Fuga Island, provided technical training

Inclusivity and access to the BDC App is the ultimate goal of the 3-man team conducting the BDC App Training and technical assistance to the men and women of Fuga Island. The team headed by Dr. Leo P. Paliuanan braved the strong winds and waves of the Aparri waters to extend services in the island barangay of Fuga Aparri Cagayan. As part of the development team who implemented the BDC App, Dr. Paliuanan together with Dr. Jesty Agoto and Mr. Gino Carlo Rabina (an MSIT student) demonstrated with the key officials, BHW and Brgy Secretary of said island the different modules and features of the BDC App. The 2-day focus group training-workshop was part of the extension activities of the CICS under the Community-oriented Innovations and Computing Solutions thru Improvement, Maintenance and Promotion of Research-based Outputs towards Variable Empowerment of Societies (CICSIMPROVES) project. BDC App is a component project of the externally-funded ONEAPARRI project completed in 2023 by the team led by Dr. Billy S Javier. The team is grateful to the LGU Aparri headed by Hon. Mayor Bryan Dale Chan as well as the men and women of LGU Aparri for the support and assistance for the successful implementation of the activity.

Embracing the CICS Goals and Objectives, RDE Agenda and Priorities Shared

As an annual undertaking, the College of Information and Computing Sciences gathered for a general orientation program on August 21, 2024 at the CSUA Gymplex. Both new, transfer and returning students of the CICS were provided comprehensive information about their welfare, programs and activities as well as guidelines and policies concerning students as they journey through their chosen degree BS Information Technology.
The orientation highlights the dissemination of the vision and mission, college and program goals and objectives as well as the faculty of instruction of the college. Dean Julieta B. Babas also showcased in her presentation the College Research and Development and Extension Agenda and Priorities that captures the development and implementation of IT solutions of both faculty and students radiating a comprehensive understanding of the courses and topics underscored in the CHED-noted BSIT curriculum.
The crafted CICS RDE Agenda and Priorities 2023-2027 encompasses the various programs and projects intended to be made or implemented with the support of the University, external funding partners as well collaboration and partnerships with local and foreign University partners.
Anchored on the CSU RDE Agenda, Thrust and Priorities, it is the ultimate goal of the CICS to innovate for the common good and advancement of Sciences and Technology, empowering people and communities, development of sustainable and responsive IT solutions with respect to relevant UNDP sustainable development goals.

The CICS Aparri Research Development and Extension with KTM Unit is primarily focused on the development and innovation of community-responsive applications and systems that enable equity and ease of access of information, cyber wellness, ethical and responsible use of technology, and adoption and utilization of home-grown applications. It serves the community through various research-driven extension programs/projects, capacity-building activities, and outreach programs. Faculty members and students as well as alumni of the CICS Aparri collaborate with local, national, and private institutions to various planning, initiating, implementation, monitoring, assessment and sustainability of RDE initiatives stipulated in its 5-year CICS RDE agenda, thrusts and priorities. Through the years, research-based projects and extension services were implemented and adopted by the community where the CICS Aparri extends its services, including but not limited to barangay officials and members of the community, fishers and farmers, vulnerable groups, as well as professionals and students, out-of-school youths in Aparri, Buguey, Camalaniugan, and Lallo Cagayan.
