"NILOTLOT NA MANOK SA GATA"
Nilotlot na Manok sa Gata is a traditional dish from the Bagobo-Tagabawa tribe near Mt. Apo, where chicken is cooked inside bamboo over charcoal. The term “nilotlot” refers to this unique cooking method, where food is placed inside bamboo and slowly roasted. This allows the meat to cook in its own juices and coconut milk, creating a rich and smoky flavor. It is prepared with ingredients like lemongrass, ginger, garlic, onion, and chili, making it a true gastronomic treasure of the Davao region.
More than just a dish, it represents the culture and heritage of the community, turning simple ingredients into something meaningful, Kaon ta!
