𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐎 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 — Kaya Natin Youth Antipolo actively participated in the 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 (𝐁𝐆𝐈) 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 held last 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, a forward-looking forum focused on sustainable urban development and climate resilience in Antipolo City. The activity was headed by our 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐉 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠, and brought together local leaders, professionals, and youth advocates committed to environmental action.

As members of 𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨, we did not only attend the seminar but took part as 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 in the discussions. The seminar emphasized the city’s push for 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 as a long-term solution to flooding, environmental degradation, and disaster risk reduction—highlighting nature-based solutions as a core strategy for urban resilience.

𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐨 𝐉𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐘. 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐈𝐈, underscored that BGI must be grounded in science, transparency, and accountability. He explained that 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬, 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.

𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. We stand with the principle that climate resilience cannot be achieved through short-term or purely cosmetic solutions. For us, sustainability means:

• Science-based and transparent governance in all development projects
• Accountability of public officials and developers for environmental impacts
• Integration of agricultural restoration to offset land damage and move toward net-zero goals
• Meaningful youth participation in policy discussions affecting our future

We strongly agree with the view shared during the seminar that building a “green city” goes beyond tree-planting. True sustainability lies in 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

𝙆𝙖𝙮𝙖 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 – 𝘼𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙅𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙜𝙤𝙮 𝙀𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙖 following the issuance of a warrant by the Sandiganbayan in connection with plunder and graft charges involving the alleged misuse of public funds and the reported receipt of hundreds of millions of pesos in kickbacks from government flood control projects.

We believe that this development is a necessary step in upholding the rule of law and ensuring that public officials are held accountable for their actions. No position, influence, or political status should place any individual above the law. The pursuit of justice must remain impartial and guided by due process, especially in cases involving the alleged misuse of resources that rightfully belong to the Filipino people.

As a unified organization of young leaders and advocates, Kaya Natin Youth – Antipolo remains steadfast in championing good governance, ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability in public service. We firmly believe that public office is a public trust, and those entrusted with the welfare of the people must be held to the highest standards of integrity.

This case serves as a reminder that corruption undermines public confidence, weakens democratic institutions, and deprives communities of essential services and opportunities for development. Accountability is not an act of political persecution, but a fundamental pillar of a functioning democracy.

We call on all institutions involved to ensure that the legal process proceeds fairly, independently, and without undue influence. We likewise encourage fellow young Filipinos to remain vigilant, informed, and engaged in promoting a culture of integrity and responsible governance.

KNY Antipolo takes part on the Sangguniang Panlungsod's Committee on Persons with Disabilities' Hearing for the proposed Establishment of Antipolo City's PWD Council led by KNY Antipolo's adviser, Councilor LJ Sumulong.

KNY Antipolo's Chairperson Raphael Corpuz voiced out the organization's Position Paper of Support and Policy Recommendations during the hearing.

We want to thank Councilor LJ Sumulong for this initiative as it continuously promotes inclusivity and support for our beloved PWDs and for allowing the youth representation to have a part in governance and ordinance making.

Sa loob lamang ng sampung buwan bilang Chairperson on Basic Education, ipinakita ni Sen. Bam Aquino ang seryosong pagsusulong ng mas malaking pondo para sa basic education, dagdag suporta para sa libreng kolehiyo at scholarships, at classroom-building initiatives para sa mga estudyanteng Pilipino.

Sa panahon ng krisis sa edukasyon, nakakahinayang kapag ang seryosong trabaho para sa mga mag-aaral ay natatabunan ng pulitika at ingay sa Senado.

Kailangang manaig ang tuloy-tuloy na serbisyo at malinaw na adbokasiya para sa kinabukasan ng edukasyon sa bansa.
