𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐘 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐘 (𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒆𝒏 𝑽𝒊𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒔 - 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒘 25:1-13)
𝟏. 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲
In the parable, all ten virgins were waiting for the bridegroom, which means they all appeared to be prepared. However, only five were truly ready when the bridegroom arrived. This shows that outward appearance can be misleading. A person may attend church, know Christian language, or participate in religious activities, yet still lack true spiritual readiness in their heart. Jesus warns that not everyone who claims to follow Him truly belongs to Him. True readiness comes from a genuine relationship with God, not merely external actions.
𝟐. 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐁𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝
When the foolish virgins realized their lamps were going out, they asked the wise virgins to give them some oil. But the wise virgins could not share their oil because it represented personal spiritual preparation. This teaches that spiritual readiness cannot be transferred from one person to another. No one can depend on the faith of their parents, the prayers of their pastor, or the spirituality of their church. Every believer must personally cultivate their own relationship with God through faith, prayer, and obedience.
𝟑. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡
The bridegroom in the parable was delayed, and during that time all the virgins became sleepy. This delay represents the period before Christ’s return. Sometimes people become spiritually careless when they feel that Christ’s coming is taking a long time. However, the delay actually reveals the difference between genuine faith and shallow commitment. True believers remain faithful and prepared even when the waiting is long because their hope in Christ is real.
𝟒. 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐫
When the bridegroom finally arrived, the wise virgins entered the wedding feast with him, and the door was shut. Later, the foolish virgins returned and asked to be let in, but it was too late. This illustrates the reality that there is a limit to the opportunity for preparation. One day, the time for repentance and readiness will end. The tragedy is that the foolish virgins called out to the bridegroom, but he responded that he did not know them. This shows that the real issue was not religion, but relationship.
