🚨 Space Needed! | Kailangan namin ng kusina! 🚨
Hi, neighbors and friends! We’re DUYAN—a community soup kitchen in the making. Our mission? To serve FREE breakfast and lunch to public-school students who often show up to class on an empty stomach. Launch target: end of August 2025 near Angeles City National Trade School (ACNTS) on Friendship Hi-way.
Para magka-kusina na kami, we’re looking for a small space to rent—or better yet, a space you’re willing to donate or lend for the first year. 💛
Space we’re looking for:
• 60sqm or higher ⎯ big enough for 2–3 fridges + dry-goods storage
• Water + electric line
• Ground-floor, easy access, within 1 km of ACNTS / Friendship Hi-way
What we offer:
• Monthly rent if needed (lean charity rate or donate ay pwede din po)
• Light renovations on us (stove, sink, shelves)
• Recognition on our socials and “thank-you” wall once the kitchen is running
• A front-row seat to every bowl of champorado, lugaw & adobo or any food that will feed our kids
Timeline:
🔹 Space secured by early to mid August
🔹 First meals served late August
If you have—or know someone who has—an unused sari-sari extension, closed eatery, or spare room that fits, comment below or DM us. Let’s cradle our students together with food, dignity, and hope. 🙌

Learning from a Legend — Tony Tay of Willing Hearts CLG Ltd.

Yesterday I had the honour of meeting Mr. Tony Tay, founder of Singapore’s Willing Hearts soup kitchen. From a modest start, he helped build a system that now prepares and delivers over 7,000 hot meals every single day—proof that a clear process and a big heart can scale far beyond one kitchen.

Key lessons he shared for DUYAN:
1️⃣ Keep the menu simple and repeatable so quality stays steady and costs stay low.
2️⃣ Track every kilo of rescued food—numbers build donor trust and show real impact.
3️⃣ Empower volunteers with defined roles so the work never depends on one person alone.
4️⃣ Share impact daily—even a quick meal count keeps supporters engaged.
5️⃣ Build for long-term sustainability—design income-or resource-generating elements that reduce dependence on pure donations and keep the kitchen alive for years.

I’m bringing these insights home to DUYAN as we build our own cradle of care in Angeles City. Grateful to Mr. Tay for showing that a bowl of soup, served with discipline and love, can feed thousands—and inspire kitchens like ours to do the same. This is the start of a partnership and mentorship from our friends in Singapore.

Next step: weave these best practices into our August pilot. If you’d like to be part of a kitchen built for the long haul, comment “Count me in” or hit the link in bio to join.

✨ “WALANG GUTOM.” — Hindi ba ang gandang pakinggan?

DSWD just dropped this update on their Walang Gutom 2025 rice subsidy program.👆
✔️ More families = may bigas araw-araw
✔️ Less hunger = more kids in class

Pero alam nating lahat: government efforts + community efforts = tunay na .

👉 QUESTION:
If you could add ONE thing sa program na ’to para sa mga bata, ano ’yon?
A) Nutritious ulam?
B) Mental-health support?
C) After-school tutoring?
D) Your own idea — comment below!

Tag a friend na tingin mo may solid sagot.
Every comment = panibagong insight; every share = mas malawak na usapan.

Sa DUYAN, we’re starting small—champorado today, adobo bukas—para masigurong walang batang nag-aaral nang gutom dito sa Angeles City.
Let’s ride this national wave and cradle our own community, one meal (and one idea) at a time. 🙌

Today I’m sharing the kitchen that lit the spark — and where I was lucky enough to volunteer.

Watch Rappler’s short doc on Willing Hearts CLG Ltd., a volunteer-run soup kitchen in Singapore that cooks and delivers about 7,000 hot meals every single day, 365 days a year.

Rolling vegetables, stirring giant pots, and handing out lunches there showed me how powerful a simple meal can be. If one community can feed thousands on a tiny island, imagine what we can do right here in Angeles City.

In our previous post we shared who we are; now we’re showing why we’re here.

A warm champorado breakfast means a clearer mind for maths. A plate of chop suey at lunch means enough energy to ace that science quiz.

Who are we? Why are we here?
We are not a big organisation. We’re just people who believe that no child should have to choose between learning and eating. Duyan is not a one-off feeding program. We aim to feed students to help fuel them for the day for as long as we can. Your support is needed.
