Project Lugud brings smiles to CES
With the theme, “Project Lugud: Bright Smiles for a Brighter Tomorrow,” a group of sophomore students from the Holy Angel University - School of Arts and Science (HAU-SAS) Communication Program brought smiles to both parents and students in Cutud Elementary School last April 11, 2024.
Project Lugud is a dental initiative that catered to approximately 80 to 100 students from Grades 1 to 3, together with an estimated number of 30 parents attending the event.
To bridge the lack of dental healthcare services and awareness, Project Lugud held various programs and activities such as dental consultation, seminars for both children and parents, dental health-related games, and storytelling for kids.
Additionally, the Project Lugud team also distributed dental health pamphlets and posters to the students, parents, and the school.
Project Lugud Project Director Christiana Meg Ramos stated that they chose this initiative to shed light and empower children to prioritize their oral health for a brighter, healthier future.
“When it comes to our choice to focus on dental health, is because of how it is so frequently overlooked despite its big impact on overall well-being,” Ramos said.
Lugud is all about
More so, Project Lugud Adviser Irene Manalili said that student-led initiatives like Project Lugud are more than a course requirement to fulfill but a project that embodies what “Lugud” (love) is all about.
“Initiatives like Project Lugud show that despite the busy world we live in now, there is great wonder in how much love, hope, and care we can give each other,” Manalili stated.
“And that if we work together, just like how other groups, institutions, and organizations supported Project Lugud, we can help build a brighter tomorrow for generations to come,” Manalili added.
Likewise, Project Lugud is in partnership with Angeles City Dental Chapter and is sponsored by L.A. Bakeshop, G&D Printing Solutions, Luli’s Breads and Pastries, and Anney Perfume.
