Today, ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฌ๐ต, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ, the 3rd Year BS Psychology and 2nd Year SAB-MA Psychology students were given the opportunity to participate in the annual field exposure at the ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐๐ด ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ (๐๐๐๐ฅ๐).
At first, students entered expecting to observe, learn, and apply the concepts they studied inside the classroom. But somewhere between the laughter, the shared meals, the songs and dances, and the stories courageously opened to them, the experience became something far greater.
They realized that healing is not simply a concept written in textbooks. Recovery is not merely a process explained in lectures. Behind every diagnosis is a human being carrying pain, dreams, regrets, courage, and hope. Behind every struggle is a story waiting to be heard, not with judgment, but with understanding.
Throughout the visit, the students witnessed ๐ด๐ต๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐จ๐ต๐ฉ in its quietest yet most powerful form โ in people who continue choosing to stand up despite difficult chapters in their lives. ๐๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฆ was witnessed through individuals who continue believing that change is possible. ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ was seen through stories that spoke not only of hardship, but also of growth, redemption, and second chances.
And perhaps the most beautiful lesson of all was this:
As future helping professionals, this experience was a reminder that our role is not only to memorize theories, assess behaviors, or apply interventions. Our role is to ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ด ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ช๐ณ๐ด๐ต โ to listen beyond symptoms, empathize beyond assumptions, and serve with humanity.
