𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬
As students with big dreams and aspirations for a successful life, we would always love to hear from professionals who were once in our shoes and are now prospering. When we asked Ms. Joanna Camille C. Paras, an award-winning Certified Public Accountant, what advice she would provide to aspiring CPAs, she said:
“In your college years while you take all your major subjects, always remember to have fun. Have a study group where you can brainstorm and discuss and solve problems.
If you’re at home and you find yourself solving an unbalanced balance sheet and if you’re looking for that one peso difference, please take a nap and after that very powerful nap, you will surely find what you’re looking for. Don’t be hard on yourself. If you’re sleepy, sleep. If you’re not in the mood to study, go take some time off, but make sure you will make time to study and read previous notes.
Also, always ask questions if something’s unclear. And when the dreaded CPA exam schedule comes, on the first day, please set your mind that you can definitely pass it. Rebuke the thought of you failing the exam. Go back to the basics. And if you get nervous upon reading the 1st page of the 1st subject you’ll take, please start on the 2nd page, or on the 3rd, 4th, or at the back! Surely, when you see a question you’re very familiar with, you will start to feel calm and relaxed.
Unsure of your answer? I once had a law teacher and she said that if you’re unsure of the answer, and if you think the answer is true, then the correct answer is false.
And lastly, do not forget to pray. 🙂”
She also shared some tips to the aspiring accountants on how to spend their day! 💙🧡💛
