π Pepper Rescue Story π
Morning of March 30, I received a message from our great supporter and donor. This is the very first time she asked for help for almost 5 years of helping us. She saw this black dog, a hit and run victim, helpless and scared. Though she is very busy but she stopped and cared. She called for help. Luckily a friend of mine, who is a rescuer also recommended a rider/rescuer that can go to the area and rescue this poor doggie.
Ms. Gee gave her the name Pepper. Pepper travelled all the way from Antipolo to Alfonso, Cavite. Transport financed by Ms. Gee.
Since our vet friend is not feeling well that time, we just made an online check up. Since I have a long term experience in handling this kind of cases so I know how to make a proper observation and relayed everything to Doc Espy.
Pepper's condition was critical when she came. I was more bothered in the color of her gums and tongue than her injuries. It was almost white, no blood at all. She was full of fleas all over her face and body. Barely able to move and stand, very weak and tired.
But she is a brave soul, she fought and she won. Praise God π
With constant prayer, care and love, she was able to pull through that critical days. Though still in recovery and medication, I could say, she is already happy with her fellow makukulit na rescues here at Alfonso Sanctuary.
Pepper is a senior dog probably more than 10 years old already. But she showed us resilience and faith. Faith that no matter what, God is always in control. Seeing the color of her gums when I first saw her, I really panicked. It was a color of almost death is near. But when I saw her drinking the water with papaya extract, molasses and dextrose powder with electrolytes, I said to myself, she will fight so WE WILL FIGHT WITH HER. We did our best but mostly I gave up everything to GOD.
Thank you Lord for giving Pepper a second chance in life. We owe everything to you oh Lord Jesus Christ, our healer.
Thank you so much Ms. Gee Canlas for caring. You stopped and showed compassion. Because you cared, she was saved. And your care did not stopped with just reporting the incident. You accompanied Pepper while waiting for the rescuer and you even covered the transport expenses and medication for ticks and fleas. This is why compassion matters, you chose to stop and give love and it changed the life of Pepper.
Thank you so much to our caretakers, mainly to Vin, who is my primary assistant in taking good care of pepper with her proper diet and medication.
Thank you to my friend in Rizal, Thess for recommending her trusted rider/rescuer AJ.
Of course thank you also to a very devoted and compassionate Vet friend Doc Espy.
Please let us continue supporting our advocacy so we can save lives, at least one paw at a time π
