JUNE 16 | WORLD SEA TURTLE DAY

“World Sea Turtle Day” is observed annually on June 16 to raise awareness of the many threats and dangers that sea turtles are experiencing.

From marine pollutants to the proliferation of the international turtle meat trade, there are all sorts of threats to sea turtles, so much so that six out of eight marine turtle species are on the verge of extinction.

Yesterday’s cleanup dive with BAD Freedivers at Tingko Beach in Alcoy.

This place is home to sea turtles, colorful fishes, and one of the clearest waters in South Cebu... but it’s heartbreaking when the ocean ends up holding more beer bottles than fish.

Encouraging our beach goers this summer to be travelers who leave footprints, not glass shards. If you can carry your beer bottles full, you can carry it empty.
