This Pride Month, let us celebrate not only our identity but also our potential, dreams, and future.

For many years, members of the LGBTQIA+ community have continuously broken barriers and challenged stereotypes. While society often associates LGBTQIA+ individuals with pageantry, beauty services, hairstyling, entertainment, and other creative professions, we know that our capabilities extend far beyond labels and limitations.

Today, the fight for equality is no longer just about acceptance, it is also about access to opportunities, quality education, professional growth, and economic empowerment. Earning a college degree opens doors to better careers, financial stability, leadership positions, and a stronger voice in society. It enables LGBTQIA+ individuals to raise their standard of living, support their families, and become catalysts of change in their communities.

As we continue to advocate for equal rights and social inclusion, let us also invest in ourselves through education. A diploma is more than an academic achievement. PNP HISTORY: UNANG OPENLY TRANSGENDER NA PULIS, ITINALAGA SA QC — BILANG SIMBOLO NG TAPAT NA PAGLILINGKOD!

QUEZON CITY — Sa pagdiriwang ng Pride Month, isang makasaysayang kwento ng katapangan at serbisyo ang muling binibigyang-pugay: si POLICE MAJOR RENE T BALMACEDA, ang kauna-unahang openly transgender officer sa hanay ng Philippine National Police (PNP).

Itinalaga si PMAJ BALMACEDA bilang hepe ng Women and Children’s Protection Desk sa Quezon City Police District (QCPD) noong panahon ni Gen. Nick Torre III bilang District Director — hindi para sa publicity, kundi para sa tunay na pagbabago.

Hindi Kasarian ang Batayan — Kundi Disiplina at Serbisyo

Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni PGEN NICOLAS D TORRE III na ngayon ay tumatayong Chief PNP, malinaw ang mensahe: may puwang sa serbisyo para sa lahat, anuman ang kasarian — basta’t ito’y nakaugat sa disiplina, malasakit, at dedikasyon.

Ayon sa mga opisyal, si PMAJ BALMACEDA ay hindi lang simbolo ng inclusivity, kundi isang ehemplo ng epektibong pamumuno at tunay na pagkalinga sa mga biktima ng karahasan, lalo na sa kababaihan at kabataan.

“Hindi headline ang habol — kundi heartline ng mga kababayan natin na nangangailangan ng proteksyon,” pahayag ng ilang opisyal mula sa QCPD. “Si PMAJ BALMACEDA ay patunay na sa PNP, ang galing at malasakit ang tunay na sukatan.”

Ngayong Pride Month 2025, bitbit ng PNP ang paninindigan na sa Bagong Pilipinas — lahat may lugar sa serbisyo, basta’t ang layunin ay para sa kapakanan ng bayan.
